I don't know but after about 10 seconds I had to turn it off.

Absolutely the most annoying thing I've ever heard in my life.

And that is saying a lot.

Steven, try it again, let the first minute go by without the head phones or have the speakers off or something, but if you give it a fair chance, I think you will change your opinion!
I don't say that often or lightly!

Well, annoyed or not, my opinion of this unique art form doesn't matter so much as the other 926,515 views / 2,470 comments he's received as of the time of this post. That's averaging 2700+ views a day. He's gotten this kind of action all in just shy of a year.
That data alone was enough to make me sneak a peek at his website.

I'm sure you know that as a marketer, it's always prudent to be looking for that angle.

Annoying? lol - That was one of the most incredible performances I've seen. Now that takes a lot of skill.

Well, I'm sorry I didn't get to the incredible performance part but hearing
somebody say the same line over and over again for 10 seconds is worse
      than the Chinese Water Torture.

If what came after was good, sorry, wasn't going to stick around to find out.

    eh.

Yes, talented guy, good voice however 'genre' not really my taste = A little too much like Rap but not - a little too much like Reggae with the same beat over and over (drives me nuts) - however somehow not.

Considering I am someone who loves Punk where they sing purposely off key and other things that drive people away, I guess it all shakes out to 'whatever floats your boat'...

He is ok in my book...

I am sure that will make his day. hahahahha

      Patrician,
You know I pretty much agree with you. I think you know from my posts that I lean towards the same stuff you do, for the most part. Maybe I'm getting old, but this is just hitting me the right way, when most stuff like this does just the opposite.

Most music hits me the wrong way too. I secretly disagree with myself much of the time, when I am trying to be reasonable but my heart is screaming, "Enough! Basta! This is unlistenable!"

Nuthin' beats words with Tabasco sauce and a Carling Black Label.

Don't forget that unfiltered Chesterfield at the end.

Dub, which is a reggae term and the genre has been around for about 40 years now:

Dub music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My favorites are the great Lee Perry ( who produced a couple of the early, and best IMO, Bob Marley and the Wailers albums ), Scientist, King Tubby and Augustus Pablo. There was a sub genre that evolved called Dub Poetry which was lead by Linton Kwesi Johnson and Mutabaruka.

I like Lee Perry too, but I can't work out whether he's a superhuman genius or a complete ****ing basket case.

I was walking thru Brighton on the south coast of England back in the late 90s (1998?) when I saw a poster for a festival that had already taken place and had featured Augustus Pablo as a guest musician. I was miffed that I'd missed the festival but imagined that there would always be other opportunities to see him. Wrong. In May 1999, he died.

I think he's both. I hear he gave up drinking and ganga smoking though, but is still very eccentric to say the least.

Poor Augustus died way too early. What beautiful music he made as a musician and producer. I saw him in Berkeley's Greek Theatre:

That concert was unbelievably great. I believe the band who played with him was the Soul Syndicate. Great band.

Can it get any better than this?...
No. It can't. That's one of my favorites by LKJ. "The mighty poet I-Roy was on the wire" ... "Yes, this is street 66. Step right in and take some licks". haha I saw LKJ about 5 or 6 times, once with Black Uhuru. His band with Dennis Bovell was/is as tight a reggae band as you will find.

Here's Augustus a couple years before he died:
