Does any Warrior know if there is a spell checker that can be activated on this forum?

I can find nothing in the Help area and nothing using 'Search'. It's very frustrating. One types something on the forum, previews it and publishes it - and after publication finds a typo!

Surely the WF can't be the only platform on the entire Internet that has no spell checking facility.

I'd appreciate any and all advice.

Thanks,
Jeff.
P.S. Sorry if there are any spelling errors

Hi Jeff, There should be a spell checker already built in. When you type something, if it is underlined in red, that represents an error. Not sure if this helps or not!

I went to the advanced post page and in the upper right hand corner there is an icon with abc and a check mark in it. When you hover the mouse over it,it says spellchecker, but, for me at least, when I clicked it it said it was an addon for IE and asked if I wanted to download it.
I declined since I don't use addons of any kind.

It may depend on which browser you are using. I don't use IE, but just checked it out, and it's there as Kim explained.

I use Google Chrome, it doesn't give me the option. The abc function is not shown. Misspelled words are underlined in red automatically.

That probably is ieSpell - Spell Checker add-on for Internet Explorer / have this loaded up and it runs like a dream / just right click in the type text box / check spelling and your done.

yep, Google Chrome or any browser running the firefox engine will work with the spell checker.

I just tried out IE, and you are right, the spell check does not work. Nuts to IE, I say

Thanks for all of the replies. I use Firefox, so this post seems useful:

As I am not the sharpest tool in the chest, could someone please advise me in simple terms how to get to the 'advanced post page'.

      Thanks and Regards,
      Jeff.

Hey Jeff, at the bottom of any thread, there is a "quick reply" ...at the bottom of these, it gives you the opportunity to choose "post quick reply" or "go advanced". They are shown in red boxes. Click on the "go advanced" button.

Thanks for that. There is however, no icon with abc and a check mark in it, on the top right of the page, so it seems that the spell checker will not function with the latest version of Firefox.

    Best Regards,
    Jeff.

Jeff, I just checked this out with Mozilla Firefox. It doesn't show abc, but it does underline in red, any misspelled words. My version is 3.6. I don't update it, as I seldom us it.

I just checked, I do have the latest version, which has a built-in spell checker. Here is a link to the features:

Firefox web browser | Features: Faster, more secure & customizable

Spell Checking is shown in the last 3rd of the page. It's under the heading "Productivity".

Is there a possibility that you have disabled the automatic spell checking? Here is another link explaining this. It's easy to follow...you may just need to check an option!

    Using the spell checker

I hope this is the case.

Thanks again for all of the replies.

My original 'beef' was that the Warrior Forum has no built in spell checker. NOT my browser. I have Firefox 3.6.10 installed and the spell checker is active.

Reading all of these valuable posts, though and having the same problem with another forum, perhaps I need to look at my browser and take matters from there.

Thanks again Warriors, not only for your time, but also for both the advice and the links provided.

      Best Regards,
      Jeff.

I don't understand why I get the spell checker, and you don't. That makes me think it's a browser/operating system issue.
