I was actually trying to find something else totally unrelated when I came across this biography of Chris Langan. Very odd. Kind of sad:
Christopher Langan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not saying his choice of lifestyle is sad, just the abuse he suffered from intolerant (and probably stupid) people. Maybe it helped force a different direction of development that is greater than if he'd gone the usual route.

Sure it's sad in a way. Of course, when ever anyone is abused like that. But I
also believe many things happen for a reason. I tend to agree that his experience
led him in a better direction than if he followed the same path as most do.

I found it interesting, but not surprising, that he will most likely not ever be
published in the 'scholarly' publications due to lack of academic credentials.

That's fine, I say. They cannot stop him from being published, nor can they
stop him from essentially mopping the floors with their fragile egos and games-
    as-usual dunkard politics.

I've met some great scholars and academics while in school, years ago, and I'd
say they were not the kind who would support the standard policies involved
    with academic publications.

I don't feel sorry for him, though, and that includes his childhood. Yes, it really
sucked, no doubt, but it helped him in ways that only he knows. I know this
for personal reasons. Some trials are terribly hard and seem to last an eternity,
and a person ultimately has a choice about what they do with it both while
they're immersed in it and then later on when it's over.

He's better off being shunned by the scholarly machine so he'll be less encumbered
    by it.

    Ken
