We didn't get the puppy we were originally going to get after some trouble with the breeder - glad we saw their true colors before we got the puppy from them.

But.... everything happens for a reason and we have since found a fantastic breeder and now we have this gorgeous little fella

His name is 'Griffin'

    Aww... He's gorgeous.
I love the smell of puppy breath... deep sigh.
My Maremma probably wouldn't adjust well though.
    congratulations on the new arrival
    Cheers

    Awwww!

And now I'm going to report this post so that it gets deleted. Because the only way to get rid of my "puppy fever" is to get rid of this post.

    (just kidding)

    Congrats!

He is great! The larger dogs usually make the best pets! They tend not to bark a lot (which is good because if they do they tend to be loud) and no one will ever try and break in - just the sight of a full grown Rhodie will scare most of them off! But because of their size they are rarely aggressive - no one will dare mess with them.

My parents bred Irish Wolfhounds - they were also thinking of Rhodies, but fell in love with the mother of our first dog.

Have lots of fun with him.

He's not only a cute puppy - he's got all the features that show he's going to be one handsome adult. That expression also shows a lot of intelligence. You certainly picked out an awesome little guy.

My German Shepherd says she might make him her toy boy when he gets a bit older because he is cute.

She is a 3 year old woman.

Well our family tradition is for the women to be older than the men - we like our toy boys!

In Adelaide too - wouldn't they have cute puppies shepherd x ridgeback

what a lovely looking doggie! My daughter would love a dog, but we have no fences on our property, so it is not really feasible. We do, however have three cats, one of which is my pregnant pedigreed Ragdoll! She has been mated to a Double Grand Champion stud and she has won a few awards herself, so we are hoping for some nice show quality kittens

Sweet puppy! Yours is only the second time I've seen anything about Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Only learned what they were about 2 months ago. Very handsome dogs - and your puppy is adorable!

I walked across this post and couldn't resist...

Congrats on your Ridgeback! You'll find him to be your best friend indeed over the years to come.

My own little best friend is currently sleeping next to my desk. She's a 7 year old Ridgeback female and the greatest animal I've ever met. Loyal, athletic, smart, social... Everything a dog should be imo.

It's not a dog for the weak hearted, though. Highly energetic in their first years (I still remember the lawn looking like a dirt bike track) and they learn very easily how to get food which isn't theirs to have

The respect and love they give is immense. And prepare for all the "wow!" and "what a great animal!" compliments you'll get!

    Enjoy!
