Hi there warriors !

I just had this thought and i was really curious to see what you guys would choose ...

If you have to chose between a fancy and expensive toy, let's say a sports car ... or a hot list of buyers who are ready to consume what ever you gave them ?

I'm talking here at a level of fun, which one would be a more of fun to do ?

I'd take the list, but it would depend on where the list came from (ie if I could snap my fingers and have a list of buyers that *I* have created, I'd take that over an unknown list from someone else that I don't know what they've purchased, etc).

Hmm I think a 10,000 buyers list, is not a big list. With that money I can make a 50,000 buyers list easily!

Or..like ReachOneMedia said, I would sell the Lambo , and then fund my next action!

What have the 10,000 buyers paid exactly?

    What market?

There is a huge difference between a list of $7 buyers and $97 buyers for example.

Is it in a market where there is a reasonable backend?

Without these specifics, it is a flawed question.

The Lambo won't go over the speed-bumps in my street, and probably nobody would insure me to drive it anyway, so it's a no-brainer.

I'd have taken the list anyway, if I'm the person to whose list they opted in, because that way I know what they're worth. Someone else's list wouldn't be worth nearly as much to me - probably not much more than a Jaguar XK.

Let's see...would I rather have a depreciating asset that costs a fortune to maintain, needs to be kept in a garage, has outrageous insurance premiums, I can't just park it and go shopping, needs to be kept spotless at all times, gets horrible gas milage, only holds two people, is a ticket magnet, and when driven in traffic doesn't allow you to see past the SUV in front of you, or a list of 10,000 buyers.

Hmmm, that depends on who I see walking down the sidewalk...

          Accepting this proposition:

a hot list of buyers who are ready to consume what ever you gave them
It's a no-brainer. I take the list, and in a short time that list is much larger, and I have the car I want. It won't be a Lambo, either.

Exactly LOL. Cars are an overrated experience IMO.

I bought a Porsche thinking it was a big deal, but I was just as happy driving my Volvo. Now all I get is funny looks and people wanting to play "chicken" on the highway. I find myself speeding more often because the car feels like it's doing 55 when it's going 85. I feel paranoid when I go back into the old neighborhood because I have to be careful where I park.

I would have had much more fun with a fast car when I was single and still chasing women . Nowadays I honestly don't want a Lambo or the lifestyle changes that come with it.

I'd take the 10,000 buyer's list without hesitation.

I was fortunate to have a great life lesson when I was younger. I had a Mercedes sports convertible (that I didn't have to pay for) and though it was fun to drive I realized the value was in the "status" - and that I had no interest in status or in associating with those who had status as their priority.

Since then my favorite car is one I can haul stuff in and that is paid for.

So true, Ron. I also own a car where the only place I feel comfortable parking it is at car shows. It's high-end 39 Chevy street rod that I've had for over ten years. It's a real crowd pleaser and would cost well over six figures to build today.

The romantic notion of going from a 1987 Yugo to a Lambo overnight seems to have a big draw. The reality is quite different.

This is like the difference between giving someone a fish and teaching them to fish.

Only an idiot (excuse the word) would take the lambo as it's gonna start depreciating immediately and cost a lot to run and maintain - it would cost you money to have it, where the list is an asset that makes you money forever (or until you sell it later).

Sure you can argue about the quality of the list but since it's a hypothetical and being compared with a Lambo I'm assuming we are to imagine it's a decent hungry list that is making excellent money - otherwise, if it's a crap list of freebie-seekers it's worthless and there would be no point asking the question - only an idiot would take the list

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime...

      But what about this one?

As the question stands, I would take the list. No question.

However, what if the question were something like...

"Would you rather have an email list of 10,000 buyers, or the top 3 things you dream about having?"

Does that sway your answer one way or the other?

    All the best,

It's a difficult question because the email list of 10,000 buyers is like having an ATM machine that enables you to buy the things you dream about. I guess it comes down to having them now or having to run email promotions to get them. I'd pick having them now.

But honestly, if I look back 10 years at the things I dreamed about having, I already have them - a happy family, a nice house, and having the freedom to do what I want without having to worry about paying the bills.

Since a 10,000 buyer list is one of the top three things I dream about having, it makes the question seem more like "Would you rather have one of the top three things you dream about, or all of them?" - which is rather a dumb question.

    Ok let's see,

It will cost me and TON of money to get my registration and title for the labmo (at 10% tax) and it will also cost me over $3k a year to insure the lambo and then all the maintenance and stuff that will come with the lambo.

The list on the other hand will be an asset. It will help my business move forward in a positive direction.

I will take a $500,000 lambo and sell it immediately and invest the money elsewhere.

To make $500,000, you will have to make $500 for every subscriber on the 10000 list. I just cannot see how this is possible for vast majority of products and customers.
