Oooppps...Thread Removed

Hey guys,

I posted a thread in the main forum asking for some feedback on a product
I created and it lasted about 15 minutes and the thread got deleted.

I sent an email to the admin to ask why and I am awaiting a response.

I was trying to word my post carefully, but I did have like 4 links inside...
one was to verify my identity and the others were links to my product.

The site has not been officially launched yet and I was just looking for some
honest feedback.

My partner did most of the posting on the forum in the past so i'm still trying
to find my way around here.

I don't want to do anything to get myself banned...
I'm more of a behind the scenes tech guy, but I have to do alot of the posting now.

Any tips on how to stay out of trouble?

    Cut the self-promotion right away. That will get you ousted faster than anything. There are places where you can put up paid advertising - other than that, this a community, not an advertising board.

    Other than that - just get to know people here - get tips, share them. Keep your posts relevant to the topic of the forum you're in. Make friends and possibly get JV's with people you like and trust.

    OT forum -- is the bar. Come in here when you're ready for some off-the-wall chatter and come in with a sense of humor because we get bored fast. If you make a post in here and get roasted, oh well - that's the bar for ya.

    Thank you so much, I appreciate somebody helping to shed a little light on a few things for me.

    Like I said, I am more of a behind the scenes guy and I'm not exacty what you call a marketing genuis.

    Nice to know there are a few people around that will help guide the way for those of
    us who are just honestly trying to learn the rules

    Oh cripes - now your pm makes sense, LOL.

    Others would have been here, too, but your title (subject line) is confusing. Sometimes people post questions and just edit and erase if they find the answer. We sometimes just use those posts for fun and havoc...which I came in here to do, but found a real question. LOL.

    Welcome to the Warriors. Don't worry about not being adept at some areas of IM because most of us have specialties and aren't keen on the rest of it....which is why we need a community. If it weren't for my tech and a few of the more technically inclined Warriors here, I'd be sitting in a corner drooling. I'm a writer but a techno-moron. This community is the reason I can exist online at all.

      So who is the real Kevin Burns? Two people?

      If so, both need to know the rules and know if a thread is removed you need to let it go and not bother the help desk or ask about it here.

      What you posted sounds like an attempt at pre-promotion which many try to do here. Doesn't work as you found out.

      I understand you are asking nicely rather than ranting but learn and proceed from there.

        My apologies Kay,

        I obviously used a poor choice of words in that post and after looking at it again, I can certainly see how it could be viewed as a pre-promotion. I can assure you though that was not my intention. I guess it just came out wrong.

        I appreciate the feed back and stand corrected.
