Honestly, you don't need any money to begin earning online. But in most cases, it pays to at least invest in your domain domain name and web hosting, so that you have full control over / ownership of your web properties, for "safety" purposes and peace-of-mind.

A domain name won't set you back more than about $10/year from NameCheap, and good, reliable web hosting can be had for a few measly dollars per month - even free.

Beyond that, you really don't need to be spending on anything. Of course, for many monetisation models, it pays to also be building a mailing list, and so you need to subscribe to a service like Aweber, GetResponse, or whatever. If you cannot feasibly afford that, then do without it until you're earning enough to cover the cost of such a service.

But as to your question of should you give up? No. Stop wasting your money on stuff, change your game plan if you have to, and try again. You can earn money online.

If you feel like you're worn down by it all, and cannot muster up any more patience right now, then perhaps take a break from it all for a while and come back at a later date, refreshed, and having formed a new plan that you can stick to until you see results.
