I am a frequent visitor of www.dallascowboys.com but it looks like they must have let the domain expire (ouchh!). Keep in mind that this is a multi multi million dollar site.

It's back up, but this reminds of a time when Microsoft.com expired. When you went to the site it had a link to pay for the renewal. Some random guy went ahead and paid it. He then sent an email to Microsoft letting them know and asking if he could get the $70 back. Months later, he received a check for $5,000 from Bill Gates.

Once your company goes above $20,000 in net income I'd register the site for at least 5 years. One less thing to worry about. BTW, that guy is lucky that Microsoft didn't just sue him for it... though I guess $5k is cheaper than their lawyers.

A St. Louis guy with a Yankees logo as an avatar and a member of DallasCowbys.com? Your loyalties are spread too thin.

Easily explained: I'm from the Bronx and my dad bought me a Cowboys sweatshirt as a kid.

      Interesting story about Microsoft.

I can understand companies suing people if they try to make money off their trademarked name.

But if they let their domain expire and some guy registers it and just sits on it without doing anything with it, what has he done wrong that he could be sued for?

I'm not making any point - just asking out of interest really.

      Cheers,
