$20 Paypal To The Winner! Help Me Choose a Short Report Topic In Health/Wellness/Nutrition Niche!

Hi Warriors, I'd like to run a little contest to help me find a good catchy topic for a product in the health/wellness/nutrition niche. I will pay $20 paypal to the winner to be announced on Friday of his week.

Here's the deal.

My wife is getting her degree in Health, Wellness and Nutrition. She absolutely loves it and therefore she makes for a great student. She knows a boatload of very valuable info for someone like me who's an IMer

Anyways, she keeps telling me about all these really interesting things about this niche and I particularly find the nutrition part interesting because if your body is well nutritioned it will heal itself from almost anything.

Another interesting topic is the elements of wellness and how people should be balanced in all those areas in order to have total wellness and happiness etc. Very interesting!

To get back to my story and how I came up with this contest is that I have been planning a trip to London to go see my brother and his new born baby. My wife had to go to school so we didn't plan for her to come with but now she realized she will be off during that time and wants to come with so I said yeah you can come with me but I have to do some work before and possibly during the trip in order to pay for the whole thing because as you know London is not the cheapest place to travel too.

It would only be fair if you did your part as well to help pay for the trip so I'll give you a topic in your field and you will write a short or long report on it. This way we can sell the report to help pay for the holiday.

She immediately said yes because this is her passion and she can write for days about this stuff so now I have myself a little opportunity here

1. To let my wife play a part in my business which will be good.
2. I'll have a well written informative report on the topic of my choice.

So, now all that's left is the topic so let's do some brainstorming together as this excercise will be good for everybody.

I'll start with my idea.

Young people these days cannot get through the day without buying at least 2 to 3 energy drinks. This a direct result from poor nutrition, excercise etc so I was thinking of writing a report helping young people with no energy to get off the energy drinks, save their own lives (that stuff kills ya) and save around $10 a day because energy drinks aint cheap.

Let's hear what you guys come up with.

Cheers,

Jan

    Neat idea, Jan!

This is based on personal experience as recent as this weekend, so here goes:

Eating pineapple or drinking it's juice reduces inflammation. How do I know?
Because of my age, and probably my genetic makeup, I tend to retain water so the worst thing for me to do is eat too much salt.

Last week, my knee was swollen and I was getting sharp pains. The pain was so bad that I was ready to go to the hospital over the weekend. Now, anyone who knows me, knows I distrust mainstream medicine, especially here in Canada, because you see, our "free" medicare comes with a price: doctors and nurses who are just too busy to take the time with patients and so do nothing but treat symptoms and just push pharma drugs as a solution. And not to mention, I would be waiting 5-8 hours to even get looked at! You have to wait over a month to get an MRI here...it's bad!

So going to a hospital was a last resort for me. Well, then I had a flash of wisdom while I hobbled in the grocery store on Friday. Something drew me to the juice aisle. I bought unsweetened pineapple juice because I read somewhere that pineapples contain a mixture of enzymes called bromelain which is said to break up blood clots and reduce inflammation.

So for 3 days I cut my salt intake to next to nothing (no more chips and salty snacks) and drank pineapple juice: just 1 eight oz glass per day.

Today my knee is almost healed. The swelling has gone down, I hardly have any pain, and I'm walking almost normally again.

Pineapples: tropical, yummy, and healthy. Gotta love 'em!

Just a side note...pineapples also aid in digestion!

I think the topic of blood pressure and/or diabetes is a good idea. Those two illnesses are widespread, and people are always trying to find ways to either avoid getting sick or to solve the problem. I don't know if the niche is lucrative though.

Actually he hit upon two items that are very related to kidney failure and renal disease.

Undiagnosed High blood pressure is called the silent killer and considered one of the main causes of kidney failure. Also there seems to be a correlation between kidney failure and diabetes.

Brainstorming exercises are always good for the brain! (Ooh...does that count as a topic??)

Here are a couple of ideas:

    1. How to use negative calorie foods to fight off hunger and help you lose weight. My dad has been losing weight after seeing a therapist, exercising and eating better. One of the things his therapist was big on was using these "negative calorie" foods in his diet - foods that supposedly require more calories to digest than they provide nutritionally.

    2. I'm not old, exactly, but I'm no spring chicken, either. I swear my ankles no longer bend until I've been up for an hour. My husband mentioned his golf buddy actually goes to Costco to get "joint juice". I have no idea what that is but a report on how to ease morning joint pain would be cool - for me. Maybe "How to wake up feeling 20 years younger!"

Its just as bad here in the States as well. Doctors get huge incentives to push prescription drugs onto people for things that can totally be cured naturally. I like your idea, Pineapple juice to ease inflamation instead of precription drugs.

      Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, also cholestrol I think is huge since Lipitor I believe is one of the highest selling drugs in the States.

I just thought of another idea. An ebook about the negative effects of stress and how to cope would help a lot of people. I'm researching the topic now because my family is driving me nuts!!

I don't know when you're planning to launch the report? It would be good to introduce something on that topic after the new year in January.

January's that time of year when people decide their going to make their “new years resolutions” by doing things like....

    Lose weight.
    Stop drinking.
    Get more exercise.

What about something like “start a fresh – detox for 2011”

You could right a report on how to do a good detox & right up all the great health benefits associated with it.

You could also include a follow up from the detox with details on “eating organic”.

Or maybe just do an all out report on the great health benefits that come with eating organic foods.

Oh, and on that diet note. Write a report about food ideas for someone with Crohn's Disease (a la me) who can't have food with almost any fiber (which is almost all veggies) and give ideas for healthy recipes and what-not, there are a lot of people in this situation as well.

A very interesting nutritional topic at the moment is sugar and its adverse effects on your health. If you've read the book Sweet Poison, it's quite an eye opener. Sugar, or more precisely, the fructose component, is not good for us at all. According to the author, and he's done his homework, fructose is responsible for obesity, heart disease, etc etc. We all eat sugar, so a report on this will be relevant to everyone.

I agree that this would be a great topic considering how much sugar we're feeding our children these days. It should be brought up to those who like to use sugar substitutes such as Splenda that these substitutes arent healthy at all and, once in your system, just get converted into fromaldehyde! We should all be encouraged to use natural sweeteners such as honey and stevia as replacements instead.

I just had a thought that for young people, healthy ways to clear acne might be interesting. I don't know if you've heard of the book "Your Last Acne Solution" but I read it and, while it absolutely clears up acne entirely, I found it to be more of a total health revision for your whole body! Something that outlines the same concepts and ideas as presented in that book would be helpful for everyone.

So you're saying the techniques in the book helped cure acne in a natural way? This would be very interesting because people will do almost anything to get rid of their acne.

How about a simple topic suggestion that can apply to everyone and can be expanded in many nutritional directions.

A general information short report that can lead to a more detailed ebook that specifically addressses breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc.

My friends father swears by garlic. After his first heart attack, he takes 2 cloves of garlic a day and walks 2 miles a day. 20 years later and he is doing great. He says that it has to be fresh garlic.

How about something for people who don't know what a real healthy diet looks like?

Many people today are getting "lifestyle diseases" - Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity. These are then causing complications - like kidney problems, cardiovascular problems etc.

Part of the problem is that many people today simply don't know what a healthy diet really is - they have been brought up on fast food and microwave meals.

Could you wife put something together for these people? something that educates them about what should be in a healthy diet - and gives ideas that don't involve cooking from scratch every day and still does involve allowing them the treats they are used to?

I think this will be very useful - and quite challenging!

ok I know the contest is over but I thought I would put in my two cents anyway. I think that there are so many things out there that people claim are great, but rarely work consistently for everyone. I think that we need to look to see who is combining traditional knowledge with analytical science. I think that this produces great results.
