My Gorgeous Ragdoll Cat is Due to Have Kittens This Week

My darling Rebel is due to have her first litter this week, and I am so excited!
She is a 15 month old Blue Point Ragdoll, and she has done quite well in the show ring.

I have had her mated with a stunning Blue Bicolour Double Grand Champion stud, so am expecting some high quality show kittens.

For anyone who hasn't heard of Ragdoll Cats before, they are the sweetest, floppiest cats you would ever meet. They also have stunning looks and have a beautiful silky coat, almost like rabbit fur.

Just wanted to share in case there are other cat enthusiasts on the forum

    Congratulations!

You better be ready to give it up with the some pictures as there are lots of animal enthusiasts (includes kitties) here.

    Bring it, Ragdoll Rebel!

she has been scratching around in a few strategically placed boxes this morning. Looks like she is getting ready to build a 'nest'. Hopefully she will hang on until I get home from work!

no, she is still hanging on. She has been having contractions and appears very uncomfortable. I hope it doesn't take too long, the poor thing will be exhausted (so will I)

well, she had a total of 5 very strong, healthy kittens. She is a wonderful mother so far, and she is doing a great job at bonding with her babies.

I have taken some photos, but am exhausted, I think it's about 36 hours since I've slept, will try to post them later tonight or in the morning.

      they are cute aren't they

They all weigh 100 grams on the dot! Amazing! This is really good, as it is better to have a consistent litter where all the kittens are similar in size rather than a couple of good sized ones and a runt or two.
      Rebel has done me proud

I will post a link to my breeder site when I have a bit more info on it, it is still very much under construction.

    Hello,
Nice kittens, but should you be handling them yet?
A friend of mine had kittens and he touched them and the mother got mad and killed the kittens.

All the breeders that I know handle the kittens (minimally) from birth. It is important to get birth weights so they can be monitored for growth, and to pick up any problems early.

Ragdolls are particularly gentle, human oriented cats, so they are very obliging, but I'm not sure if any other breeds may not react in the same way. I would assume the wilder breeds such as bengals may act differently, but not sure. Interesting, I will look into it some more.

I didn't even know what a rag doll cat was so am glad for the pics. The kittens are precious. I'd say they were really cute........but ALL kittens are really cute - and puppies, and bunnies, and....well - you know.

They are fun to look at, but there is just something really incredible about holding a small young life in your hands.

They are called Ragdolls because when you pick them up the are very floppy and relaxed. they slump in your arms like a ragdoll. It's a very strange characteristic, but they all have it! Hence the name...

    Info,
I'm jealous! They are precious and Rebel is a gorgeous Ragdoll....

As for the newborn touching, I think it is more about trust and contamination with the domestic momma cats....if you don't add strange smells and return them as they were, most are not going to hurt their babies. Daddy cats require a watchful eye though.....they are more likely to kill the babies (men)

Again, big congrats Info & thanks for sharing !
