Hello warriors,
I have a CRT Monitor that has gone very dark and even flickers sometimes.
Is it related to any hard disk and mother board issues, display driver problems?
Please let me know.
Mine is Intel 82845G Graphics controller on Windows XP.
Any related links will be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Given that most CRT monitors are very old, in my own experience
I would say that the monitor and CRT itself are on the way out.

Try to borrow a known good monitor and see if you get the
same problems with that. If you get no problems with the borrowed
monitor ..... then you need to get another or new monitor.

If one end of the VGA cable is actually built into the monitor,
the cable can break/fail internally where it gets bent .. or clamped
at the monitor. If the cable has connectors both ends, you could
try changing the cable .... but my bet is on a dud monitor.

Just like CRT TVs .... some last 5 years, some ten years and
a few last forever. When the tubes go dark, they have usually
very low emission internally and may well have gassed up.
    Not worth repairing imho..

I hope you have the opportunity to read this 100% factual and
experience based response to your question ... as my last
equally based response to a help request got deleted for some
    pathetic reason lol.

    Good luck

My old one I had did that until one day my daughter broke out in tears of laughter as I sat at my computer and it started sending smoke signals and smoke alarm went off.It happened some 5 years ago and she still reminds me of it once in a while bought me a flat screen for fathers day.For the cost of monitors today suggest getting rid of that one.

I have had that same problem with two different computers. On one, the monitor plug had come lose from the computer. I just tightened it. Problem solved.

On another, the video card was not seated well inside the computer. A little push, and all was well again.

I hope it is this simple for you. Another way to tell is borrow another monitor to see if it works properly with your computer. If so, then the problem is probably your "old" monitor.

      Hey all,
      This is surprising to note,
My CRT Monitor works fine when i increased its Screen refresh rate.

You can do that with CRT monitors within their tech specs
About 72 to 75 Hz gives a nice flicker-free display without making
stuff appear too small (text etc).
