How to ruin your BUSINESS reputation in one stroke!

Whenever I post anything on this forum I tell myself this is a business forum and no matter what I personally believe and or support, this is a business forum and I am here to learn and make my online business prosper!

I belong to other forums where I can let it all hang out and engage in radical discussions and arguments about all kinds of subjects, I personally believe that the WF is NOT the place to do that!

I have also received the scam paypal email several times, not to mention the amount of times I received the Nigerian scam email. I just delete them without even reading through all the way. Unfortunately common sense is not too common which is why many get into trouble with the Nigerian type of scam especially.

Had an experience also with real estate that you should be aware of as it is along these lines. Had a condo for rent, got a fella from the UK contact me via email to rent it. He actually sent me a check for $20,000 in advance. Then started asking me to send him smaller amounts like $2,500 as his wife had a car accident etc. Told him when the $ clears I'll send him the money. Sure enough the $20,000 never cleared and the bank charged me a fee for depositing a bad check. Beware!

Well i was just tring to help. And i have no regrets for the post. Someone out there needed it. Don't post to things you cannot explain.
I just wonder how someone in his right senses would throw $400,000 to scammers.
Serious issue here.

That's one of the common methods for the Nigerian scams. That, and contacting people about their cars and such on Craigslist. These are the biggest ways these scammers are able to dupe people. Rentals and sale-by-owner used car sales.

Hmmm... they succeded in taking you to the bank. They only failed with the uncleared check. There are alot of cases were the check actually cleared from the bank.
Such cases involve accounts that are owned by millionaries. They break into these account code, then have a laser writen check that cannot be finger traced. Then they have it mailed to the victim within the country.

Most people actually think the checks came from outside the country. Nope. If you ever receive a scam check just note that it came from within the country and not anywere else.

Incoming mails to the states are been checked with laser tech. for scam checks. They have been able to go around that. It's like a web now.

The few nigerian scammers seach for the victims, then they contact the pros in your region to mail the checks for them, and have you transfer the doe to an offshore account.

This is one of the reasons the government has failed. They look for the scammers outside when the real kingpins are within.

Thank you Kevin.

SCAM is not a word peculiar to Nigeria or Nigerians alone. Many of this people that always generalize the scam events are ignorant of what happen in their own country. Scam is in the world dictionary. Why this useless talk about Nigerians. I receives series of phishing letters from Americans almost every day about MILLION DOLLAR LOTTERY I WIN when i never play lottery in the first place. Lot's of Nigerians have been duped by Americans this way. But who will carry their news when it's just $50. Now do the calculation of hundreds of people paying this every month.

Now about the lady that was duped by 'assume Nigerian'. If you are scammed you are greedy and you are a thief yourself.

I don't support scam, neither did I support American spamming and phishing.

It's not all Nigerians that are scam artist. So stop your useless talk.

Majority of Nigerians are hardworking, religious and ethical people.

Nigerians are good. Nigeria is a good place.

If you are been scam. Post the name of those that scam you.

How can I help you today?

It's a shame this woman wasn't a reverend of the Church of the Holy Red Breast - otherwise she'd have come out smelling like roses. (That link contains mature language but it's a hilarious example of how to beat the scammers at their own game)

Of course you are. In some ways, the Nigerian scammers have caused even more harm to people in your area, as there are many doors online that are closed to you. And that is sad and unfair. It's very likely even worse because you are from Lagos.

I think we should give everyone a chance. If they attempt to scam us, then we write them off. Until that time, I think we should treat everyone as we would like to be treated. Be smart and stay away from scams, but don't slam the door in the faces of innocent folks.

The dirty bastards.

Only last year I had one in a developing relationship to only let them down when it came to handing over any money.

A month before, it was a team from Malaysia who were working as attorneys.
