Should you block Facebook at work?

Some companies do it because it's considered an entertainment site, security hazard, or something not work-related. Other companies consider Facebook an essential part of marketing-- to network with others. What do you think?

From a personal point of view then i wouldn't ban it but i'd limit it to certain times i.e. lunch, breaks etc.... The thing is if you have it then there is a tendency for your workers to use it during their work time but if you say they're free to use it in their leisure then work isn't affected.

One thing you have to do is try and relate to your workers as sometimes giving them what they want will benefit you in the end as they'll be happy to work for you.

You won't believe. But our companies productivity increased 30% once they blocked twitter, facebook, and all other social networking site and video sites for developers. Also, administrator blocked us for using any chat system for any purpose. No mobiles or sms. pretty sad for the people who wanted to be in the contact with friends at work but good for company
