Kindle and Amazon Books

Does anyone here have a Kindle? I had one for a few months now. It comes in handy in those waiting rooms. LOL

I just published two of my e-books on Amazon in the Kindle format. Hopefully, it goes well. It seems like it's hard for an unheard of author to get ranked on Amazon.

I need to find out some more techniques for that.

If you have a Kindle how do you like it?

Have you published anything for the Kindle? How's your experience with it?

I'm bordering on buying one, just finishing up about 6 books I bought from Amazon first.

I saw my friend's Kindle, seems pretty awesome, especially for reading in bright light.

I'm probably going to buy it under his account so we can share books that we both buy.

Yes; I have one of the new 3G, graphite-coloured Kindles (the small one - not the large DX model).

      Nice bit of kit.

I've downloaded a lot of free public-domain ebooks onto it, which I'm slowly but surely working my way through.

It provides a very good reading experience, I think. I actually prefer reading on the Kindle to reading normal books.

I like to keep my books (and all other possessions) in tip-top condition, and unfortunately that's not easy, because books (especially paperbacks) naturally want to close, and that means either fighting with them or bending and ruining their spine. And smaller hardbacks are just a pain in the ass to read anyway.

(I probably sound like a nutcase, right?)

With the Kindle I don't have any of these problems, and I can more easily become immersed in what I'm reading.

I haven't published anything in the Kindle store yet though - no. Maybe one day.

Yeah, the pros for me are that it's very easy to read in the light. You can hold thousands of books and files.

You can also add audio books and images. The images are B&W though.

It's great for reading, and if I forget my reading glasses, I crank the text size up a tab.

I use Amazon's convert tool for my PDF files this way I can adjust the text on them as well.

The cons are no color but for reading that's OK. Also wish there were a way to print in those rare instances or at least an easy way to convert Kindles native format to a printable one.

    I love my Kindle though.
