Considering the trolls that are waiting to jail people for disciplining their children, I would say it's smart to wait until they get home to do so. Of course, it's pretty easy - just tell the kid they won't be going into public with you again until they learn some manners and people would be surprised how quick they shape up if you stick to your guns on it.

I never had kids - choice, not because I couldn't (I guess that makes me a fool or a liar), and it's real easy for me to get them to mind me. I just tell em to get out of my face until they can act like a person instead of a pet. It usually works. When it doesn't, the kid just doesn't get to be around me. I can be a complete dickhead about it, too -- but for some reason kids love me. Maybe they are all just looking for someone who will talk to them, listen, and treat them like they are equal in person status to us.

I had one blow spit in my face once... it traumatized me. Im afraid of zoo's now... or maybe that was a lama... in either event... kids blowing spit... no thank you.

On the other hand...

I love my "children" so much though I would probably drink their slobber...in fact may actually done that a time or two. Alot of feelings change after you have children of your own, although theres no way a person would be able to understand that till they have some.

I can barely remember it, but there may have been a time when I felt the same way... now I have 6....dont ask, long story. They are all the most beautiful things that ever existed to me...well, besides my guitar.... okay well maybe one of them is more beautiful than the guitar.... but hey, its hard to beat a 52 tele reissue. Close race.

yeah look it's great and all that but i can only take so much. And no child of mine acts like a spoilt brat. I do not have the patience for it. I see some parents getting owned by their 2 year olds and i think it's quite pathetic.

They teach you so much about yourself and whatever they do they always seem to have a smile on their face.

I love the fact that my kids are like a mini version of myself and whatever happens you know that you are living your life for them.

Yep - that just about sums up "me in general," too.

One time I was at a party and this couple brought their youngsters along. One of them had to audacity to hop on my lap, put his face in mine and blow/spit on my mouth.

Yuck.

And naturally, I had to be polite about it because the rest of the people at the party just *loved* the couple.

Talk about losing your patience. I promptly made the kid get off my lap, and for some reason, I don't remember what I did after that...

Sorry; I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune, but I've had many very similar experiences of children myself, let me tell you!

It's hard to keep a smile when your facial muscles are tugging firmly in the opposite direction. Talk about face-ache.

And for some reason, my hot bed-time milk just became a whole lot less appetising, too.

I like my two kiddies a whole lot, but they're well behaved and easy to get along with.

I don't necessarily like other people's kids. Makes it hard sometimes - I have a very close friend whom I love dearly, but I just can't stand her children. They're rude and have no manners at all. I dislike them intensely. Spending time with her is great, but.... she brings her kids.

For years I couldn't stand kids, they made my skin crawl and I just couldn't see why people thought they were so great. If any came too near to me in shops or wherever I would glare at them to scare them off.

Then I accidentally got pregnant four times. Now I love kids.

I especially have grown to love kids between the ages of three and five. I worked with kids that age at a preschool last year, and it was one of the greatest jobs I ever had (probably will ever have).

Of course, they can be frustrating when they don't listen or when they get into a tantrum-throwing mood, but most of the time they're incredibly fun to talk to and play with, and they made me laugh all the time. They always have such an interesting take on the world, I loved looking at things from their perspective. So yes, kids brighten my day, gotta love 'em!
