My blog has been up for few days, then today i checked and i had 9 comments waiting to be approved. When i first read them i was like wow people are paying attention to it and are really interested, was a bout to aprove them till i clicked there names, and it goes straight to there webpage.

Is this backlinking they have done. if so i think its a bloody horrible way to do it.
i would of not know unless i clicked there name, thank god for askimet grabbing them.

If all of them were backlinked via their name it's probably the form you have up for comments. Some of them ask for name and website and the website is just hooked to the name.

What I am curious about is why, if the comments are good enough for you to want to approve, would you delete it just because of a backlink? People use this method to link for SEO - but if a relevant and thoughtful comment is made and the link doesn't go to porn or warez, etc, why be a link Nazi? If it's a solid comment they are giving you content in exchange for that backlink.

Hey, that's what happens when you do something new. Now you know that your comment form has a place for the commenter to enter their name and a url. Their name becomes the link text for the url.

In any case, I agree that you should not delete the comments if they add good content to your blog. The vast majority of people posting at a brand new blog are usually those looking for links to their sites. If you don't allow them to backlink they won't post comments.

Now if their comment is "Nice Blog" or "Great Post" or something that really doesn't add to the content of your blog or is obvious spam or porn, delete those. But if they add something useful you might want to reconsider letting them have their link.

I get links to my sites that way and write good content rich comments. I rarely get one deleted and, of course, when deleted I never return to post another.

If they are good comments as you said, why be concerned? It's not like you have to pay extra to your host because the comments include a link. Links help people find their websites. Links help people find your website. Link and let link is a good policy for most blog owners.
