LOL Steve - is what legit? Trying to get paid for scrap gold painted rocks? Or cashing in on scrap gold you have around your house?

These businesses are legit, but they usually pay very poorly - not near what the worth is. Some are frauds. I can't imagine sending my scrap metal to anyone via mail. I want to be right there to haggle the price or take it elsewhere if they aren't giving the fair price for it.

But this letter - not sure if it's legit - but it sure is damned funny.

I was asking if the letter was REAL! I KNOW sending gold painted rocks in is stupid and illegal! And HECK, if they were REAL rocks, the quality of the metal would have to be assayed. I am certainly NO expert, but ****I****, even if the color went all through the material, and it looked, and was as conductive as gold, could have EASILY verified it wasn't real gold. I might have just called them and said the rocks were only worth like $1, and I would want payyment to send them back.

And YEAH, they APPRAISE them for material content. That AUTOMATICALLY means like a 30% plus discount on what they offer. THEN they have to figure in resale, which probably means over 10%, and then risk of a drop in the market, maybe another 10%, and we are ALREADY down 50% and they haven't even covered shipping and processing costs. So it is a GIVEN they don't pay well. At least a jewelry store may see value and pay you a fair part of that first 30%. Of course, jewerly stores probably won't buy rocks like that.
