Who are we selling to?

In these hard economic times, it's hard to imagine anyone in the lower end of the financial bracket being able to afford the basics, let alone the extras. With unemployment held hostage so that an extra tax credit for the millionaires can get passed - it really makes you wonder how the have-less percentage can even stay afloat in the financial climate today.

That got me to thinking about those that sell online. With dozens of emails hitting my inbox like clockwork every single day, with claims of thousands of dollars earned through all these various ways, (Though most of the emails are simply "buy my system or my buddy's system/software/program" type deals.) it's hard for me to get past the question,"Who are we selling to?"

The term "how to make money" and all the variations of that theme hit the search engines like an avalanche day and night. Yet if you think about it in a different way, like as in "who has the money to spend" then you get to the heart of the issue. Because if you think about it, those that are buying the "make money" products, most likely don't have much money to spare.
And that makes me a little bit uncomfortable with the whole "look how much I made in a week!" statements. Because, for those desperate buyers who are hurting financially, to buy the hype due to feeling hopeless, they are technically, getting ripped off a large percent of the time.

Now some may beg to differ in opinion, saying if the person put in an effort that they could succeed. That is wishful thinking right there, most of the time. Many of these people have no idea what half the terms tossed about in IM mean, let alone how to follow some of the step-by-step guides. Because often the system is old, doesn't really work as a stand alone or simply don't work for the inexperienced. I've checked out dozens of so called "money making" programs, software, whatever - and found that most have some limits built right in. Don't need a list, Don't need a website, Don't need to know (blank) fill it in...in the end it's mostly a lie.

I've listened to videos on sales pages that state these claims. Then in the same video, when they are talking about all the goodies the truth slips out. "Oh you can send this to your list..." "Scatter these words all over your website..." "Follow these simple steps to make your site rank in the top..." "Send traffic to your site to build your list....promote it on your websites..."
Hello? What happened to not needing a list or website?

When you think of who has the money to spend, which is a simple one, the answer is the wealthy. Now I seriously doubt that the wealthy are looking to make money online. They already have money so they will be buying in niches that they are interested in. But these niches are luxury ones, they are the kind that are run by experts of the subject. Would a rich woman be looking for a cookbook? No, she's got a cook. Likely a maid, butler and chauffeur too.

So those buying in niches, in the IM field and in most of these guru driven style sites are those that are just above the waterline and those treading water...hopefully, it doesn't include those that are going under financially. I'd hate to find out that one of my customers took their last few bucks to buy my offer instead of paying a bill or getting food or medicine. Why would they do it? Because they want to believe in the copy so bad that they are willing to do whatever it takes to change their lives.

Trouble is, more likely than not...it doesn't change their lives for the better. It just makes life a bit more bitter.
I've seen the copy myself, knowing better, I still sometimes wish that it was really true that money could be made that easily online. There are so many people in difficult situations, that it's heartbreaking to see it happening to so many now adays.

For myself, even with my own difficulties taking their toll, I still find a way to give back to those in need. I've gone to sites, looked through classified ads and picked out local families that are needing something for their kids to give them some sort of Holiday. Because how can you tell them that Santa forgot to stop by? It's really difficult if the kids have worked hard to be good all year. So I find those families with young kids and I gather up clothes, books, toys and a stuffed toys for them. I've even given away a few small bikes and some games to those with kids that are a bit older. What can I say? I want to keep that spirit of magick alive as long as I can.

Sure kids aren't much for clothes or books some may say, But mine have always been happy for whatever they get for holidays or at any other time. Learning to be grateful for a gift, no matter what the gift is truly something worth teaching, at least, in my opinion.
In another time, letters were considered gifts of time sent to those that felt special to receive such a treasure. Now we jot off emails, PM and post on dozens of sites and blogs. But when's the last time you took a pen in hand and wrote out a thank you card, a miss you postcard or even a gift card to go with a gift that's being delivered?

To get back to "who are we selling to" I think at some point, those that are claiming to make thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit need to think about where their mass amounts of money are coming from. Take off the percent of other gurus, other IM folks and buddies that are buying the product. Look hard at those that are buying a hyped up, EZ to do product that's offered as the best thing since sliced bread...
Are those buyers desperate for help? Are they one of those newly become poor individuals that wants to find a way to climb back into middle class? Are they people that are hoping against everything, that your product is the one that will finally work and end the financial nightmare that their living in?

We all know the copy, some of us on here have used it. "I wasn't always so wealthy, lucky and living the good life. Some years ago I was broke, living in a studio apt. (in my folks basement, on a friend's couch...you get the picture.) I didn't know what I was going to do. BUT THEN...blah, blah blah...the holy grail of making money appeared...in a stranger, a friend or in the form of whatever else...This is a choose your own fairy tale story script to get some desperate sucker to part with his cash.

What I want to convey is that now, in this economic uphill climb, especially right now as the holidays and the end of the year creep ever closer. Now is a time that reflection may be good for the soul. For all those that have become vastly financially free by selling to those that aren't nearly so lucky to have vasts amounts of cash...
Maybe a little holiday cheer...something special that you can give back to those in need would be a nice gesture. There are many places to find those in need and if you look around locally, I'm sure that you will be shocked to see just how many actually are hurting this year.

With our government leadership being blackmailed by those indebted to the wealthy and big corporations, it would be nice to see, that some well to do people in the world really do understand the huge difference between the haves and have nots - and are willing to do something about it.

I wish you all glad tidings, the brightest blessings to you and yours,
Happy Holidays and may we all have a Happy New Year.
