      Not much.

I go there to get these slide shows and to peruse the stories from politics to sports - all in one location.

I've soured on the huff post since IMHO they've shown themselves to be media whores and the lady who owns the joint is on my s*** list as an opportunist.

      Hope That Helps!!

#1. It doesn't count doctors bills, cost for disposal, etc... It is IRONIC that flourescent requires SO MUCH more effort, and they don't count it simply because when they work they APPEAR to put out more light relative to the power consumed.

#2. YEP, and each spent bulb means MORE hazardous waste with mercury, etc... The newer bulbs could even be considered to be WORSE since you usually throw out the ballast, adapter, etc... AS WELL! You CAN'T simply screw a flourescent into an incandescent socket. THAT part may EASILY last DECADES! Maybe even a HUNDRED years! But since the light is built in as part of it, it goes out to contribute to filling up the landfills. MORE plastic, lead, and who knows what else that is TOXIC and or not biodregradable.

#3. I didn't expect them to mention that. Most places DON'T! Still, they say the usage is decreasing. If true, one most ask HOW! IPR , BTW THEY tend to be LIBERAL, so you can't lump them with FOX , recently reported that an engine degreaser was reformulated to not affect the ozone layer. MANY mechanics are starting to get SICK because the degreaser was reformulated by a MORON! I knew that stuff was hazardous before I was 7yo, and that was DECADES ago! WHO could think acetone is safe?

#4. WOW, GREAT advice! Some people I have known have left a light on ALL THE TIME to act as a night light or similar. If they could cut the power by 30%, they would probably be HAPPY to do so! And that would save MORE power than switching to flourescent. They can't simply lower the wattage on the bulbs because sometimes they DO need more light. And I don't think flourescents can really be dimmed.

Anyway, I always HATED flourescents! They can make noise, the light or bad ballasts, flicker, don't put out the same spectrum of light, and can be dangerous to install or dispose of. I was really ANNOYED when I saw how many places in my area had FLOURESCENT fixtures! It was WORSE when I found that the building code REQUIRES flourescents in laundry rooms, closets, etc... At least the bathrooms and living quarters have incandescents.
