One Man and His Dog Introduction

Thought I better drop in and introduce myself. And my dog. He and I go everywhere together. Including here on this forum.

My life long companion and best friend. His name is Greg. And yes, my real name is Lou Krapper. Don't laugh. I've been on the butt end of many jokes about it in the past.

I'm 68 years old and live in southern Ireland in a very small cottage on the side of a mountain overlooking the ocean.

Until 7 years ago I was a full time shepherd. A leg injury when climbing a stile one night with the rain pouring down and a bad gale put pay to my days gallavanting over the hills rounding up the sheep. Wondering what to do next I turned my hand to Internet marketing.

At the time when I first began I didn't even know how to switch a computer on. Now 7 years later I guess I'm a quiet entrepreneur raking in a small fortune each month. Not that I have any need for the money. What am I going to spend it on living here in the middle of nowhere? But it gives me a good feeling anyway.

My cottage is tiny. We're in the middle of nowhere. Just 3 rooms. Kitchen stroke parlour. A bedroom upstairs. And a living room with a table and a comfy chair next to my roaring peat log fire. It's very cosy.

Sometimes I get a little lonely. But then I gaze out of the window and realise all is good with the world. I have my radio. A battered old television set. An old iron kettle on the range in the kitchen. What more do I need?

On the odd occasion I do head into the nearest town 30 miles away I use my old 1961 Land Rover. She's my 'wife'. Well, as good as. Doesn't look particularly pretty but then she doesn't answer back like the real thing. My kind of woman. I'm a bit old fashioned I guess like that.

I'm a bit cranky and eccentric. You would be too if you lived my lifestyle. Quite often I talk to myself. Perhaps more accurately, I talk to my dog for company. Greg understands everything. Back in the day he was one of Ireland's top sheep dogs. Very smart indeed. Smarter than I am by a long shot.

You'll see me no doubt and Greg too on the forum. He doesn't bite. If you see him treat him kindly please. He appreciates a ruffle behind his left ear.
