I travel a lot and I am thinking of buying an iPad so I can leave my laptop at home. I am concerned that I will have a difficult time creating content on the iPad and that it is more useful to consume content. Anybody have experience traveling with an iPad and using it as your work computer for short periods of time?

For SHORT periods it should be ok, but people have said that it can be bad for long periods.

Just repeating what I have heard and seen.

I've heard similar. Personally I wouldn't want to do a lot if work on one but can see where it could be handy for Keynote presentations.

I prefer the traditional Laptop to be honest. Things like the iPad are a novelty for me and I liken them to more of an advanced toy.

i prefer ipad instead of laptop if music was the issue. Ipad can be used almost 24 hours of non stop while laptop like 4-5 hours?.

You can go for ipad nano so that you can see movie clips. So if you are a traveller an ipad is recommended to kill time easily and arrive at your destination.

I really hae been pleased with my IPad, but, if this tells you anything: one of the best features, in my opinion, is how easily it slides right in my laptop bag next to my computer. After 8 months with it, I usually find myself back on my laptop.

It really depends on what functions you expect it to perform. There is just too much software that I need that the IPad cannot duplicate at this time.
