It seems like ever since I hit 21, I started gaining weight. I was average weight before, about 150 lbs, 6 feet. Now I am possibly over 200 lbs. Probably 220 lbs. I eat as much as before, maybe a little more, but still this weight gain slowly started catching up to me.

Does something like this ever happen to you?

Nope! If you're having weight problems though, check out PSMF. Protein sparing modified fast. You can lose .5 - .75 lb a day. It's legit.

Nope - How often do you exercise? If you do IM-ing all day long and don't exercise, then you probably will gain weight. I exercise at night.

yes it has happened to me too. Since I had kids, the weight has slowly crept on, and it's because my lifestyle changed. I used to go clubbing and dance all night, surviving on cigarettes and alcohol with very little food. Now my only vice is food

Look on the bright side, less chance for lung cancer and alcohol poisoning
Regarding the OP, EXCERSIZE!!!! I don't know if you live somwhere hot or cold but if you can, go excersize outdoors, it's funner (at least that's what I always do) and you usually want to stay out there more.
I hate gyms, they feel odd and I prefer excercizing by myself.
Work on upper body+core training to get muscle mass and try jogging 2-3 times a week, start at 2 miles, after 2 weeks 3, keep that going until you get to 4 miles. Then if you feel strong enough try increasing a mile a month until you reach 6. Core training should be done twice a weak until you reach a good level where you should drop down a bit and maintain strength with 3 slightly easier workouts.
This will slice weight off of you within 2-3 months.
Eat lots of pasta and low fat meat to restore your body with essencials and many vegetables (raw prefered).
Hope this helps, you can PM me if you want more detailed explanation...
Also, look online, there is an abundance of great workout plans for beginners, the key is START NOW, just like in IM'ing...

I've seen my weight slowly creeping up since I turned about 22, so I know what you're talking about.
However, there are also a lot of things I can come up with to explain it, so I don't think age has anything really to do with it. I've just been in front of the computer a lot more, which has also caused me to cook less and pay less attention to what I've been eating. That has meant a lot more junk food and a lot less exercise, unfortunately.
I'm going to start trying to get out more and eating better, because my energy levels have gone down since I'm less healthy and it's starting to affect my ability to stay up and work.
We'll see how the New Year's Resolution thing goes...

With ME, my weight started creeping up in my 30s or so. Of course NO I weigh more than you do. I am a LITTLE taller than you, but still. 8-( Anyway, I resolved earlier today that I will lose weight, no matter what, this week.

But HEY, when I was 220, I was FINE! People couldn't believe I weighed so much, because I looked pretty thin. I would LOVE to get back to that weight.

      Personal trainer...
If you have an extended middle section, don't start excersizing by yourself, easiest eay to hurt yourself badly(your neck and back).
If you can afford it, talk to a PT, if not, sign up to the gym where you get personalized assistance for your individual build+weight.

The thing to remember guy is getting started is the hardest, much like in many other things.
getting into shape is hard and takes several months, however, with time you will want to excersize more and eat healthier. I guarantee it.
Your energy levels will sky rocket as well, which in turn will boost your productiviy I'd say between 20-30% a day, depending on the person.

I was reading about the fattest man in Britain.
He's got 50/50 percent chance to get out alive from an operation to ease his weight or he has got the option to remain bed ridden until his organism gives up and he'll die.
In the meantime the taxpayers are maintaining him for about £100,000 a year.
The operation will cost £20,000 and eventually a helicopter and a special built ambulance for £90,000 will have to get him to the hospital.

I am sorry, but I am against everything which could possibly create such a situation. It is not funny for him in the first place nor for those who have to enjoy the consequences.

Yeah, there is ****NO**** reason for that! If I were king, I would tell him that he would get NOTHING! I would only provide for reasonable overages to allow him to keep what he has, but NO excess for all the food, etc... he must be taking. Admittedly, I am overweight, but I would NEVER let me get to THAT point. ALSO, MY problem is due to my metabolism and the fact that I haven't exercised a lot. He must weigh AT LEAST twice what I do, and likely weighs a LOT more! HECK, someone that was twice my size could STILL go in the regular ambulance.

And there are ONLY two real types of operations:

        1. Liposuction. It would take a long time, could be VERY dangerous for him AND, if successful, would likely require plastic surgery. He would lose a lot of weight, but it wouldn't solve the BASE problem. He would STILL likely have to lose weight to look normal!

        2. Gastric bypass or lapband or similar. It could take a while, might be very dangerous for him AND, if successful, would merely force him to lose weight. It could take him a while to actually lose the weight. It basically makes the digestive system less efficient and often limits the amount that can be eaten at a time.

And the operation at only 10,000 extra pounds for the first year looks like a better deal, but he will STILL likely be on public assistance.

A am a little overweight but not much and am desperate to lose the excess. I exercise regularly but being 50 and having four children is working against me. Also my deep love of food doesn't help. Before I had kids I was a distance runner with no flab...ah those were the days.

I was always slim till I reached 45! Then perhaps you could say the middle age spread took over a bit! I still enjoy exercising but not as much as before. I don't think I need to eat as much as I used to, that is what makes the weight come on.

But I have started to eat what I used to eat, brown rice every day! It has so much fibre and makes you feel full, that I always loose weight if I eat it regularly. Perhaps its not for everyone, but it does work for me. Its full of vitamins and protein, so its really healthy, and add a legume, eg. lentils or beans to it, to make a complete protein.

I think a lot of aging is also in the mind, think young, think slim, and we can be!

I've always had to fight my weight. I've been thin to fat to thin to fat many times. In April of 2010 I stepped on the scale and I was up to 262 pounds! Again! Since then I've lost nearly 50 pounds and am fairly confident that I'll get the rest off over the next 5 or 6 months. Again!

I'm great at losing the weight but keeping it off is another thing altogether. I feel like I'm getting too old to be much overweight now though. You don't see many fat people in the old folks home. They're mostly lying six feet underground. And now, the thinner I am the younger I feel.

My mother is 80 years old, thin and lives in a minimal assistance old folks complex. Nearly everyone there is thin to barely overweight. I fully intend to live longer than that so the weight must continue to come off. The only remaining sibling of my parents is thin. Every single person I know who was more than 25 pounds overweight died by age 72. Two of my friends were grossly obese (like I was for a while) and died in their mid fifties.

By the way, I really never have had any problem losing weight. I don't use any fad diets. I can eat whatever I want but I restrict my total calories each day to between 1500 and 2200 depending on how fast I want to lose. If the diet starts really getting to me I take a couple of days off but still restrict my calories to 2700 for those couple of days. Right now I'm doing 1700 per day.

Some of my favorite diet foods:

Eggbeaters and Turkey Bacon for breakfast
    Shrimp with seafood sauce
White fish or catfish (no breading or oil)
    Chicken Breast
Tuna Salad (Homemade with lite salad dressing or Mayo)
Sunflower Seeds and 94% fat free popcorn (for munchies at night)
Fruit cocktail, bananas or cereal and skim milk for dessert
Lien Gourmet Meat Loaf and Mashed Potatoes Meal (Beef and potatoes for 180 calories!)

Notice that I concentrate on protein and stay away from carbs. Carbs just don't keep me full very long and it's hard to make it to the next meal. I'll have a few slices of bread per day and a few saltine crackers but only along with high protein foods. That way I'm only really hungry a few hours in the afternoon and I can eat a bit more at night.

I'm not saying that this would work for everyone but I just wanted to share what works for me.

I devised my own Internet Marketing plan, Get rich and ripped at the same time. I use alot of automated programs to build my backlinks for me, so i tell my self since i am using an automated program and im saving time doing it, in the middle of every submission i have to do 25 push ups and 25 sit ups, I am 18 though but the results i have gotten from it are outstanding, nearly 70 lb gain in my bench in just 3 months of IM and my 6 pack is clearer then ever! I gernerally do about 10 submissions a day so you can see im doing 250 pushups and 25 sit ups every day. Works out great! try it sometime!
