Am I the only one who DOESNT want to do IM forever? What are YOUR goals?

Okay let me rephrase that a bit.. well kinda...

I'm just doing IM to help fund other projects that I have that are not related to IM.

I don't know about you guys, but this isn't my dream. I have one thing that I'm working toward...

Being A Celebrity [Broad Goal, Right?]

I love being in front of the camera. I have a decent video camera but I'm really working up for a nice one.. $3-5k. I have a whole notebook filled with scripts that I come up with.

Now I USED to think, "hey.. let me get rollin with this IM thing and I'll just make enough to go to LA and take a shot at being the next big thing!!" Well, after doing IM for a few years.. I honestly feel that I could stay where I'm at... (very small town in TN) and get famous on the internet.. I think I could pull that off.. I mean, if I'm interesting enough to get noticed in LA, I should surely be able to get myself 'internet famous', right?

Anyways, I have multiple ways of doing this....

1. Music
I'm pretty good at editing/producing music.. Now I know EVERYONE and their mom records them singing and puts it up on YouTube.. I have a little twist that I think could get me noticed.. I can pick one artist.. Let's use Nicki Minaj for example.. and grab all of her songs, the acapella versions(her voice with no beat).... And I could cut and piece together her words to make my own created verse, using her voice. (I've tried it, didn't sound too bad at all!) Then I could record my part.. pick a beat, etc..

- Including her name will get views
- Having a unique verse that no one has ever heard, they will think it's her.. then they will wonder who I am.. since Nicki Minaj was generous enough to do a song with me

"Kory, you'll get in trouble for that!" Eh, I'll put in the description that it's really not her and it's fan made.. what.. they going to send me to jail?

2. Infamous Comedy
I call this infamous because I have another notebook full of sketch parody ideas... that are extremely vulgar, offensive... and just down right mean. I honestly believe the quickest way to get famous is to be hated. I have video ideas, that I KNOW will go viral over night.. but it's just a matter of.. Do you want to be hated in exchange for publicity? Sometimes I sit up all night and think about it..

I have those video ideas that people will hate but will watch anyways. You know what I mean? You just can't help but watch..

Anyways.. I have tons of movie scripts I have wrote.. songs.. comedy sketches..

TLDR; I just want to be a household name and be on your TV

So, is IM your dream... or do you have a bunch of life changing goals hidden inside of you?

IM is a tool to help fund or promote whatever you want to do.

IM could certainly help you in your goals. In fact, it could easily be one and the same thing. TV, film (which mostly serves as pre-advertisement of video games), radio, and other 3rd-party corporate endorsements are no longer necessary for achieving success in the performing arts.

For me, when it comes to the idea of celebrity and being in front of the camera, I hate being in front of the camera. Just imagining the aggravation of fame and loss of privacy is already too much for me, never mind actually having to suffer it. I've pondered this issue quite a bit, but still don't understand why anyone would want that. That is why I work behind the camera, so to speak (and literally too).

I want to do IM forever. I enjoy it, both in learning new things and sharing my knowledge with others.

I have no desire to be famous and couldn't care less if no one knew my name.

My goals have always been rather simple - to be comfortable and not worry about finances. To pay my bills and get rid of debt. To be able to help my kids and grandkids.

IM has helped me achieve some of those goals and it, along with my hard work, will be the vehicle that helps me accomplish the rest.

Gosh Darlene, that sounds like a line from a song, but I can't think of the song right now.

Kory, there is a huge downside to fame too. Make sure you consider that as well.

I want to be able to have a $100 daily income. I also wish to build up more websites, hopefully have my own team to do such.

I can't imagine doing something for a living that I don't love. I also can't imagine losing my privacy to fame but if that's what I wanted out of life I'd go for it as long as I could house, feed and clothe myself during the transition.

I'd move to LA or New York, get a night job to pay the bills and develop my craft, audition and look for an agent during the day. Hey ... you only live once!

There are things I'd rather be doing if money wasn't an object...like writing a book...an actual novel, in the fantasy genre.
I'd also love to travel for long periods of time, learning about other cultures and their history.
IM is just one way to create many streams of income, I think.
I wouldn't mind investing in real estate just like I love investing in virtual real estate. :p

IM isn't the be all and end all but it sure is fun and what a ride, eh?

    Kory,

Don't waste your life LA. It is such a ugly place and way to over populated. Try another city if you like and get your fame online.

Wow you have some neat goals! I am an IM addict. I still have a lot to learn though. I am doing this so that I can eventually have more time with my family. It takes a long time to create profitable sites.

I enjoy doing a lot of things. I will continue to do IM for as long as I continue
      to enjoy it.

I'm at the point in my life where I don't have to do IM, or anything for that
matter. So whatever I do, it's because I want to.

When the day comes that I don't want to do IM anymore, I won't.

I have plenty of interests to keep me busy.

      Songwriting
      Video Game Addict
      Magic The Gathering Addict

Between those 3 things alone, that's easily a 14 hour day. I could spend
8 hours in the recording studio alone. I've been known to play video games
for hours on end. And MTG? Between buying cards on Ebay, creating
and testing decks, that's easily 2 to 3 hours out of my day.

IM? Don't even know where I find the time for it anymore, but I do.

Today, I spent about 2 hours writing a script for a video I'm about to
      make.

Ultimately, I am never bored. I have more than enough to keep me
      happy.

      Yeah...my life is almost perfect.
