How Pain In The Ass Is Moving Web Hosts?

I got about 30 sites that I might need to move to a different Web host and I wanted to hear how difficult, or easy, it was for you. What's required and how much can I expect to pay to have it done? Any problems while moving your stuff?

I hate this, but it just might NEED to be done.

Depends on the host. Some hosting plans you can get the ability to import sites. But you need WHM access which is normally just a dedicated server, VPS, or reseller. If you get that then it is easy.

But if you have to manually do it then it depends on your sites. They all have databases or just small sites? When I did it last the database part was the pain and it was 30 WP sites I moved.

They're all WP sites, so definitely databases. I have an unlimited addon domain type of plan and was looking to get the same with Hostgator. They will move my main domain but nothing more for free.

Are they all cpanel to cpanel? If that's the case you can create a backup of the old cpanel server and load that in the new one. That coupled with some work on setting up the subdomains or whatever else might be needed should be good.

Another question to ask is: do you enjoy the technical stuff? I recently moved my sites from a cpanel to a kloxo platform (because my vps doesn't give me cpanel for free and that's fine by me). I like technical stuff but only to a limit to so I got someone else to do it for me. Look at elance or odesk. I got my move done in around $100 (but that also included some custom install). But, you should be able to get it much cheaper for a cpanel to cpanel transfer, mine was more complicated.

Yeah, it will be a cpanel to cpanel. I will look into creating a cpanel backup and moving it to another cpanel setup. Thanks for the info.
