In that case, why not get a bigger box, keep the old stuff (some might still be useful) and just add the new stuff from outside the box into it?

That seems like a viable option.

But by thinking outside of your box, aren't you simply thinking in someone elses box by that point?

Should I be a Germany box and start taking over other boxes? Keep whats in my box but take whats in someone elses box and use it?

Yeah, its better to take action instead of just thinking and thinking, there are great number of people ahead of us, so we need to follow their path.

Only thing we need to have, is goal and google, and then just HUNT FOR KNOWLEDGE, that's it.

P.S.: I have not arrived at where I supposed to be but I'm where I am today as a result of the desire and effort to go beyond the elastic limit and even the breaking point. It is this drive and mindset that has taken me to a certain yield point where little effort can turn in maximum output.

Forget being inside or outside the box.

Do what works and stick with it. Sometimes your strategy needs to be tweaked. Whether this is along the lines of conventional thinking or not doesn't matter. What does matter is if you're providing immense value with your content, product, service. If you're thinking differently for the sake of being different your results won't change. If you're thinking differently with the intent of improving your offering the results usually change quickly.

The difference lies in your intent. What is it? When focused on a clear-cut purpose that benefits all involved your thinking follows along certain lines, whether conventional or not.

People do quite well for themselves thinking inside or outside the box. Do what works for you and if your results say that you need to innovate on that, innovate.

I think sometimes people can take 'out of the box' a little far.

For instance: I just bought a stick of deodorant, and on it they had written
"Remove cap and push up bottom."

Well I'm walking funny, but my farts smell lovely. Unfortunately due to their 'out of the box' approach to application, I believe I will chose a standard application brand in the future

Well the box is mine and I am not thinking out of it. Not now, not tomorrow and not any time soon. I intend to keep it and think in it till.........................

And if you don't need yours any more instead of putting it in the recycle bin or trash bin, do me a favor bring it here and I will make good use of it for you.

If you want to go out side the box, then I will be the first to wish you fare well and shout hooray!!!!! and say quietly "one more is out" and wait for the day another person follows your foot steps and make more room for myself.

The problem is that every time you try something 'out of the box', it's no longer 'out of the box'.

The box expands to encompass all new ideas, meaning the person that celebrates being out of the box today, tomorrow is back inside. The 'box' is our idea of what is normal, and when we do something unexpected we push back that boundary.

It is the same as the concept of 'weird'. First you see someone walk past you and they have purple hair and you think that they are weird. A few days later several others are also walking around with purple hair because they saw the first person and liked the look of purple hair. Suddenly the boundaries of 'weird' have been pushed back, and the word implies something other than it had.

'Out of the box' is a concept much like 'weird' or 'tomorrow'. No matter what you try you never reach them, you only push back the concept. Which of course, in itself is still worthwhile.

Hey, seeing "out of the box" as a mere concept that doesn't exist (except probably in the figment of one's imagination) sounds like the following:

1. ...accepting defeat,
2. ...accepting to play safe because of fear of the unknown and other fears
3. ...inheriting the "herd" mentality. That is, let's-join-them-if-we-cannot-beat-them kind of mindset.

As far as I'm concerned, these are symptoms of someone suffering from mediocrity. It's totally unacceptable.

EDIT: A fish in a fish pond is at the risk of losing its life if it continues to stay in the polluted/contaminated pond where just a fish died. In our case, everything(the fish) inside the box(fish pond) is dead leaving us with a contaminated box. Isn't it time we got out of the box before all of us are cold dead?

P.S.: Yes, we are not fish(es) but we're as living as the fish. Just an analogy.

Wait did someone say bra burning. Dont' burn the bras out side of the box. It's only because of the burning boxes that the bras will burn inside the box. Also burning bras is bad for the man boobs who have thought out side the box was safer than inside the box.

See what thinking out of the box has led to is burning inside the box and ultimately to anarchy.

Now tell me where I went wrong thinking inside the box. But at least I can blame it entirely on my age.

there will always be a counter-point

there will never be absolutes (totally in totally out)

being out is 'IN' this year again.

for me i have never been in the box =

wouldn't know how to be

whatever is 'the way' of the day

i am going the other way.

not bragging

it is always difficult being different

and just as hard to rip yourself off from the pack mentality

when the same try so hard to be different

and different is all the same
