Lori Drew's Internet Abuse Trial - the Stupidity Defense?

Lori drew, her then-13 yr old daughter and her 18 yr old "assistant" created a news storm when they created a fake boy persona on MySpace and over a month's time manipulated a 13 yr old emotionally unstable girl to the point she committed suicide.

The case has gone to the jury and verdict will be interesting. The only charges that could be placed against Drew were conspiracy and unauthorized computer access.

Drew's one and only defense? "We didn't read the terms of use on MySpace - nobody reads that stuff". Her lawyer contends that since she didn't read it, she couldn't violate it.

I'd say that lawyer is really reaching for a defense - and hope the jury sends a loud message to this woman and others like her.

So using that defense you could do 60 in a 30 and just say you didn't read the speed limit sign to get off?

This case will be a good one for me to follow as well.

There is a lot of emotional manipulation that has occurred and emails have been submitted as evidence.

Wonder if the documents will be shared with the public.
