As an affiliate, do you care about squeze pages?

It was suggested that I do NOT have a squeze page on my new site because affiliates will not want to promote the product.
So, the guy that has coded it for me set it up so that there is no squeze page, but will ask for thier contact info once they try to close the browser.
This seems like a less efficient way to build the list.
Does this make sense to anyone?

As an affiliate that is promoting someone elses product, does it matter to you if the site has a squeeze page as the home page?

The general consensus is a big fat yes.

Although it's widely debated here, the overall tone of those chipping in is that a squeeze box on a vendor sales page is what amounts to a "leaky page".

In other words, you send traffic as an affiliate and you may not get credit for any sales that result from your traffic joining the vender's list due to the squeeze box leak.

so what makes the most sense?
I certainly need to build the list, and also want affilliates to promote the product and make money for themselves and me.

    What is a popular compromise?

One popular compromise is to create two landing pages. One for your vendor sales and one your affiliates send traffic to.

An alternative is to sell your products as your own affiliate if you are using CB, as an example, and that way you can capture your own leads.

What you will find is that your affiliates will be very possessive about their traffic. For many, it's not your traffic, it's theirs. They could send it to any offer they choose and if they send it to your offer it's still 'their' traffic.

Really depends who it is. If you are unknown then you can pretty much forget about any affiliate's sending leads to a squeeze page. If however, you are a well known and respected marketer, then most serious big wigs will have little problems with sending leads to email capture pages.

Unfortunately there have been some unscrupulous vendors in the past who have stolen commissions from their affiliates through their emails sequences so there tends to be a little bit of paranoia around the subject.

A lot of people take offense to the idea of sending their readers to a vendors squeeze page because they see it as building the vendors list, they don't see it as being paid for any leads they send even though some vendors pay up to 100% commission on the front end.

Promoting to squeeze pages can also be a good way to get noticed by bigger marketers provided of course you provide good leads and loads of them since most big launches have affiliate contests where they offer money to the top 3 affiliates for making the most sales, this can be a great time to shine and get your name out there.

At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference.
