This guy was one of my all time favorites for somebody that didn't have but a few songs out there.

You'll recognize the second tune as a Steelers Wheels tune...

Gerry Rafferty, the Scottish singer-songwriter behind hit songs "Baker Street" and "Stuck in the Middle With You," has died. He was 63

Man, those are great songs...

Baker Street is one of my all time favorites. Oh, I was still waiting for him to come out with something new. Damned.

At this rate we aught to just start a Favorite Celeb of the week thread -- they seem to be going about that fast.

Baker Street was a favorite of many it seems. Mine too. May you always find harmony, Mr. Rafferty.

When this was announced on the news they said that Baker Street had been played over 5 million times on the radio sonce it was released.

I've no doubt it was played a few thousand times on the day he died as well, and no doubt will be played many millions of times in the future as well.

In a portfolio of songs that "I Wish I'd Written", Baker Street is definitley one of them.

For trivia fans, apparently the first band he played in also featured funny man Billy Connolly.

      RIP GR.

Spot on. The band was called 'The Humblebums':

RIP GR. I still find it almost impossible to walk along Baker Street without thinking of Gerry's tune. Classic song.

As Per XM Radio today, the 'jury' is still out on cause of death. They said he was a heavy drinker and it may have been related to that (or not).

Liver failure was what I'd heard.

He is a legend. Here in SA I can remember our radio stations playing baker street almost daily as a child, and people that send in their own music requests on sundays, always had a gerry rafferty song included.
