A real BOTTLE of coke....it is in my freezer.
I'm waiting for that icy-crystal development.

It is hard to wait. I'm usually a can person, but every now and then.........the good ole days call me..

    Andie,
There is nothing like a cold bottle of soda.
I've never been a cola person, have always drank Dr Pepper, but as a kid we used to get bottled Pepsi out of a machine at the local gas station.
In the 70s all of the drink makers switched from using sugar to using high frucose corn syrup which changed the taste of all the soft drinks.
Recently Dr Pepper in celebration of some anniversary ( I think it was their 130th?) they put out limited stock made with real sugar again. Every person that tasted it said it was so much better than what they produce nowadays.
Sadly the supply dried up quickly and we can't find it anymore.
By the way, here is some trivia for you. There is one place that still makes and sells Dr Pepper made with real sugar and its right there in Texas.A few years back when I had extra money,I orderes ome,it was awesome!
Anyway, its fun to look around their site.

There is nothing like a cold pepsi or cola after a sunny walk or day. I like my cola cold and it doesn't take long for mine to chill before i take it.

There's a little mexican market right down the street that has the real cokes in the glass bottle.

I don't know how people can drink the high fructose corn syrup crap. It doesn't have the "bite" that a real coke has.

I thought I had a Dr Pepper thread I made since my transplant but I can't find it so I am reviving this one.
I wasn't suppose to drink sodas ever since I was diagnosed with kidney failure.
Well, since I got my transplant they are telling me to eat and drink literally almost everything I couldn't before.

As mentioned before,I like Dr Pepper.,but didn't drink it much even before I got sick because of the high fructose corn syrup. It just doesn't taste like the Dr Pepper I grew up with.
Well, there was a company in Texas that I mentioned in an earlier post,Dublin Dr Pepper.
Since I was told I could have soda again ,I was going to order some from there.
My transpalnt was jauary 11th and of course it was a couple weeks before I wa released and stable in my recovery.
I got home and was going to order some and I find out that in January 2012 Snapple, who owns the Dr Pepper brand, made the Dublin Plant stop making and selling Dr Pepper.
    I was crushed.

Turns out if you do a google search you can still find some for sale, but at outrageous prices, like $29 for a 6 pack of 8 ounce bottles. (plus shipping and handling).

I managed to find some much cheaper and I have ordered a 6 pack of 12 oz cans.I can't wait till Wednesay when they are suppose to be here.......WooHoo!
    Anyway,I just had to brag.

I'm a ginger ale gal. Preferably Vernors.

but I used to be a Pepsi-addict. I drank so much Pepsi that I would make Pepsi ice cubes so I wouldn't water down my Pepsi with water ice cubes.
Don't judge. You can't argue with addict logic.

Ouuu Halcyon - I LOVE Vernors - especially hot with a slice of lemon after being out in the cold. I don't usually drink soda because it's a health disaster - but I let down now and again for a Vernors.

OMG, Vernors is the best! I can't get it here - friends from the big cities will pick it up for me or wrap it up and present it as a Christmas/birthday gift. :p

Speaking of which....time to put in another order.

But during that time I saw some Vernors and because I had heaard how great it wwas I bought some to try.
I have to say it is altogether a different ginger ale. It burned my throat.!
It is definitely an aquired taste!

I agree Vernor's is an acquired taste but it's still not as good (or unique) as Buffalo Rock Ginger ale. If you like Vernor's, you'll love Buffalo Rock.

In Alabama, my grandmother used to drink Buffalo Rock but settled on Vernor's as it was the closest thing she could find in Cleveland. To this day, when we travel to Birmingham we have to take orders for Buffalo Rock and usually come back with 10-20 cases.

Yes my family is serious about the Ginger Ale.

      Hey Halcyon...

I'm in the NW corner of the state, and about 20 minutes from a Buffalo Rock distribution warehouse....but I don't think I've EVER seen their Ginger Ale around here. In fact, the only ginger ale I ever notice in a grocery store is Canada Dry.

Maybe I should look a little closer in Wal-Mart or Sams Club..

In my search for the Holy Grail of soft drinks,ie my Dublin Dr Pepper, I have come across several online storees that carry many hard to get sodas. I'll see if any have the Buffalo Rock and if so give it a try.
