This past tuesday, MySpace announced it will fire half of its employees. Facebook operates in more than 100 languages and is now said to be worth more than $50 billion! Why has Facebook succeeded and MySpace has not? Do you think if Zuckerberg keeps going at this rate...he will have to go public??

I wouldn't necessarily say that MySpace hasn't succeeded. Being in the top 50 sites on the web is a nice accomplishment heh.

As far as why things turned out the way they did, I feel Facebook did a great job at giving users what they want (except for privacy) and tying themselves in with other services on the net. Look at how many places let you comment with your facebook account or tie your site settings in with your facebook. MySpace never seemed to do this.

It used to be the No 1 website in the world. It's been losing ground ever since it was taken over by News Corp.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I heard this year that there will be more companies investing on Facebook and it would make the company worth double than what they are worth now. .. Insane I tell you. I'll post a link once I find it.

Facebook is in the "general social" stuff and myspace is more opted in art (music), so not everyone found myspace attractive. And I need to specify the fact that having an account on facebook seems more professional in the eyes of many people than having an account on myspace.

On a different note, I don't know if you guys saw the movie about facebook, but that was pretty interesting seeing a "romanced" version of how it started. And maybe inspiring.

    Vale.

If comparing twitter and Facebook, facebook prevail because it contain the chat box where people can receive instant message by just using it.. while twitter didn't have this kind of feature..
2: people able to shared unlimited photos on facebook while twitter can't!
3: Facebook have a lot of games to play which other social sites didnt have!
