I Go To The Hospital Just To Eat At The Cafeteria

Yes, I never leave a hospital without visiting the cafeteria.

I love the laid back atmosphere.

Plus, you don't have to tip the waiter!

I go to the supermarket to eat breakfast... It's not even the nearest one.

Pretty funny, when I was younger we would go to the hospital for their fried clams, I don't know what they did but their fried clams were better than any sea food restaurant. They don't have it know, actually used to be a nice restaurant inside, now they closes that and only have a normal medical cafeteria that's pretty blahh when I tried it visiting someone there.

Zacman-I bet that the food offered in a hospital must be fresh, well balanced and the hygiene standards must be high. So in that sense it is a good choice.

I avoid them like the plague myself..........has never even crossed my mind to just "stop by" the hospital for Any reason that wasn't necessary LOL

btw: alyse is my daughters name and in 20 years I've never run across another who spelled it the same way. she hates it :p

If you choke on your food or get food poisoning, there's always qualified medical professionals around to help you when you eat at the hospital.

Nope, American hospital food sucks. When I was in the hospital I damn near starved to death because the food sucked.

Well,

Just the other day, my daughter had a scheduled appointment at the doctors practice. (still don't know why they call it practice) which is at a local hospital.

Of course we both ate lunch at the cafeteria.

The main choices where, chicken and dumplings, which were almost all gone, so they must have been great. And then either chicken fried steak or stuffed green peppers.

I went with the green peppers and was not disappointed! They were actually the best I can ever remember having! My daughter said the same thing.

We both had mash potatoes and gravy and I built a salad from the SB.

Including both of our Pepsi's our total came to $8.05 Plus no tip needed!

I was so full I didn't even go back for what looked like some delicious carrot cake, or homemade pie.

There was no waiting for food, and there were plenty of hot nurses to wink at. LOL

Just a tip for you guys who are thinking of trying this, I at a minimum wear a sports jacket, and most of the time bring a brief case just to look professional.

I might even take out a note pad and jot down some thoughts I'm using on my websites etc. just to impress the ladies.

Yep, everytime I go it just makes me want to keep coming back.

There is another smaller hospital about 15 miles away I've not visited for some time. I think I'll try it soon.

Which is another good point. Many of you in large metro areas may find your very large hospitals lacking in the "home style" food many of our small to medium sized hospitals here in Central IL provide.

Next time your on the road, instead of Mcdonald's try the local hospital in a medium sized city. (many of them are right by the freeway) You may just get the best meal you've had in a long time.

That is a good point regarding timing.

If they lunch menu starts a 11, don't go in for breakfast at 1030, or lunch at 130.

It isn't short order cooking, they prepare in advance and set it out in hot trays under the "sneeze screens" as per HCR.

Breakfasts at cafeterias aren't usually the best you can expect.

Lunch is my favorite as it usually home style cooking like salsbury steak, chicken and dumplings, pasta dishes etc.

There's also balanced meals including veggies so much better than eating at McDonald's etc.
