Do You Like to Eat Bugs?

Hi,

Anyone here like shrimp? Lots of people consider this underwater bug to be quite delicious. If you like eating shrimp, you might like eating locusts (grasshoppers), another bug with firm and flavorful flesh.

If you like eating bugs such as shrimp or lobster, you are certainly not alone. For example, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie eats bugs(http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Ang...0112812612?)as does Salma Hayek (). Many guys (and some gals) drool over these actresses. Perchance does eating bugs help the complexion?

OK, what's up here? Bugs don't interest people? I thought this was copywriting brilliance. Whose senses aren't stimulated by the word "bug"?

Wow. haha. You know you see this stuff like on survivor etc all the time and it just amazes me. I've done sushi before and squid once. First and last time. Hollywood fad or not, its not for me. Do I like shirmp, lobster? yes but I don't consider them bugs. Thanks for the post. Well informing. Does it ad to Selma's complexion? Probably not.

Eating Bugs!! Don't like the idea of doing that, but as you stated, we aleady ate bugs without paying attention such as shrimps. The would be a debate on if this is actually a Bug...

Anyway, I'm not a Bug eater.

I eat all types of seafood - shrimp, for example, if you think they are like insects that live under the sea!. I have not had a chance to eat anything yet, but I'm not going to miss the chance to try!

I have tried worms as a kid but thats about it I think lol.
One day when I was at school - going back a fair few years, there was this kid that collected ladybirds and ants and kept them in his parents garden shed. One day he came to school the next day and said he had eaten them all! When we asked him why he said he got bored of that collection of bugs and didnt know what to do with them!! He started collecting bees a few years later...not sure what happened to them though....

Shrimp and lobster are not bugs. They are crustaceans.

All bugs are insects but not all insects are bugs.

Crustaceans are not insects so they cannot be bugs.

Even in informal use of the word "bug," crustaceans are generally exempted from the definition.

So, no, I don't like to eat bugs.

          Dan,

"Bugs" is a slang term for lobster in the fishing community. I lived on a sportfishing boat in a marina for the better part of a decade and trust me, when fishermen talk about eating bugs they are talking about lobster.

Thanks for clearing that up Bill!

Have you ever seen 'I shouldn't be alive' ? The TV show... It's a great show and I highly recommend checking it out There's one, kids are stranded in a john boat in the middle of the ocean, for like 14 days or something, with no food and no water. They were eating glow in the dark jellyfish things. Too bad they didn't have some 'bug' traps.

That's just what they told you when they had excess bait they didn't want to go to waste.

All insects (by definition 6-legged) are bugs, but not all bugs are insects. For example, shrimp are not insects (nor are reportedly delicious centipedes).

I predict that in the future bugs will be as popular addition to the Western diet as sushi is today (once Westerners shuddered at the thought of eating raw fish), with fast food outlets serving fried grasshoppers.
