Remember the good old OT days

I remember heysal, kevin, sarge, Edmund, Patricia and a whole bunch of others.

We used to have some crazy sessions here on the OT.

I was a newcomer and they used to treat me with some disdain. Then I think Kev started pulling some serious ping or his mentor told him to grow up or something, Sarge buggered off.

Heysal and me saber rattled on and who's the crazy French dude - jeeze the conspiracy dude.

Ah yes those were the OT days. I try to avoid chatting on WF these days. I like OT and war room. Even the main forum for an occasional poke.

I do hire warriors but seldom buy WSO's unless its on a product I want anyway.

As for the copywriters forum - those money grubbing weasels have a copy writing cartel going. Why is it everything else can be done or got on a budget?

Conspiracy people !!!

Anyway prior to us idiots there were these other dudes - yeah like actual millionaires and stuff doing business.

The old OT died with the Nonsense thread Gareth. That thread lasted for 3 years, and while there were occasional off posters in the thread, a majority of posters in that sounded so zany actually were referencing off the forum activity. It was a hoot.

The Zany Frenchman is not French. You are talking about Indiana - and he is a Scott. He's house of Stewart and the French were family allies for centuries and he now lives in France. Conspiracy theorist? If you knew who his friends are you would swallow your tongue.

You missed mentioning two of the "Mad Frenchman's" friends, Thomas (Tommy) the mad Irishman and Mike Wright - Two of the most intelligent minds that ever hit the forums. Bantering with them on the Nonsense thread was sometimes a research nightmare if you expected to keep level ground with them.

Let me also take this opportunity to remember one of our greatest Warriors, CTBUKE a.k.a. David Castle. Is there anyone here that was here 5 years ago or more that doesn't miss him? What a personality, what a mind the world lost in his passing.

Yeah - those were fantastical days for me here. I was brand new to technology and landed in here by accident within my first month online. It's been a crazy ride since then.

I miss those old OT days when there was more mind used just for banter than people stick into their whole businesses now.

Are you saying he is from The House Of Stewart? The royal family according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Stuart)?

Sumit - I'll be darned if I remember how to spell it - I do believe yours is right.

Come on - don't tell me that nobody remembers David Castle?

As I recall, the treatment you received was due to the animal lovers here who were concerned about the sheep.

Or maybe I'm thinking of something else

Sal - so right - I miss those folks. Brains, incorporated described many of them. It's odd these days to see some tell someone else "you are so smart"...and think "you weren't here when...."

I remember those days here too... it was fun, but you can only spend 5 hours a night here for so long, if you want to ever get any work done.

I don't remember any of the political rancor that's come to characterize this section more recently.

Simply put - the world changed, Ken. And so we talked about it. It suddenly got to be impossible to talk about anything with meat in it, because politics have invaded every inch of our lives. And - many that claimed to hate the threads always had something to say in them, didn't they?
Some of the "conspiracy theories" came to light as fact, some washed out into the lands of legend -- but everyone seemed to enjoy either supporting or debunking them, many others just read. View counts were astronomical.

Anyhow - when relegated to less weighty banter, some people just lost interest. I know how fast I click off when the thread line up goes to "what's your favorite" and music threads that are so loaded with Youtubes that they freeze my computer screen. (Not saying I don't like music - just that I can't enjoy the threads on this dinosaur of a connection, which, no, is not dialup.

Pat - thanks for the picture offer - but he's still on my friend's list, too. I can't take that photo down. I've had closer friends in my life, but that last email from him changed my life forever. Death can NOT relieve me of my feelings for that man.

For those that are wondering by this time what the nonsense thread was........ It was a lively mix of quantum physics, wizard of oz, sacred geometry, technology, wit, and allusions all rolled up into a three year long thread. It started because Tommy made a stupid little one line post his post count off of 666. It read "if for no toher reason" - with the typo. It then ran for 3 years and got extremely complicated at points. The humor became so intricate that you sometimes would have to do research to make any really witty comment back to a post. Sometimes it was just a bit of slap stick.
          Good times for scholars.

LOL. Yep - those were the days.

Of course I remember CTABUK David - I still have his picture in my Friends dealy in my profile if you want to see him again. What a shocking tragedy that was/is/always will be.

I remember my first ventures into the OT and I was afraid to say anything - me - a fearless motor mouth, afraid to speak! Brings tears to my eyes.

I am not sure if it was No Nonsense but I remember always seeing Sal and various people talking about some UFO type things and you all were carrying on like in a totally different language. I had no idea what you were talking about and Yes I thought you were all insane. (now I am sure) LOL.

Although I hated that Nonsense thread by the end, it WAS so interesting - I absolutely hate all the 'What's your favorite' DRIVEL threads (sorry).

I am thankful for the friendship here - it really can get lonely even for a loner like me working from home alone.

This is the permanent coffee break - always open.

Like I would REALLY pay $15K+ for an "E meter". Frankly, I wouldn't even stay at their "hotel"!

I remember when OT first started.
I was like Patrician, I lurked but never posted.
At first, long before the nonsense thread it seemed to consist of people telling each other jokes and/or reporting unusual events.
The theories and conspiracies came later.
Like most of the old timers here, I hate to see the OT filled with all the rediculous threads. There is a big difference between crap posts and interesting/fun/funny threads.
Like Patrician, I am more grateful than can be imagiined for The Warriors I call friends, but more so for the OT Warriors.

The original No Nonsense thread, "The Opera" looks like it was deleted, but "The Nightmare" version comes pretty close.

He's talking about a different thread, Jodi.

I think the nonsense thread is in archives somewhere - but it was over 80 pages (actually it was a lot longer but the sytem kept chewing up pages after it got just so big and we lost probably about 20 pages out of it). If it's still archived it's probably not the full version.
