I Have More in Common With Panhandlers
I realize that I have a lot in common with panhandlers than regular working people. I've observed panhandlers. They work hard for their pennies, applying an array of creative marketing strategies to get an extra dime. Some tell stories, some employ humor, some engage in friendly chit-chat. Why do they do this? Each beggar has a different story, but it largely comes down to being unable or unwilling to work at a regular job. I am also unwilling to work at regular jobs. One main difference between what I do and what a panhandler does is that what I do is a lot easier (actually, less work), more fun, less humiliating, and pays better. The underlying mentality and attitude has a lot of similarities. Panhandlers are entrepreneurs at the most raw level.
