OK I have this ubot forum profile register tool in my old windows xp machine and been working great...My antivirus was AVG 2009 professional.. Now I have new PC running on windows 7. I am trying to use this piece of tool in my new machine but my AVG 2010 is telling me there is a virus. Because I really neeed it, I disabled my AVG....and then it is working great..

Is there any possibility that the software was infectewd? I don't see any reason why.. Both of my PC's are very clean...

Thanks

Yes, of course it's possible. Although it may simply be a false positive, one should never just assume that it is without investigating further. Where did you get the software?

    There are two alternatives here.

Your previous version of AVG didn't have the updated virus definition files to determine if the file was a virus or not.

As Phil stated, it could be a false positive.

If you can tell us the name of the virus that AVG is telling you is there, we may be able to help you further.

Also, I suggest updating to a better anti-virus for better protection.

  • AVG seems to be throwing up a lot of false positives lately.

I recently changed to Trend Micro and My PC is working fine. AVG was alerting me about threats that didn't exist
