I am a 40 Year Old? -- When People Get Bitten By A Snake, They Classify.

Warriors;

I assumed this was going to happen sometime. Being a younger marketer, and sometimes using that branding, I figured... Well, someone's going to call me out as a "liar" and say that I'm some 40 year old fake... Well, that happened the other day, and it was almost a compliment to me... Like, I'm so advanced that people "THINK" I am older then I am.

I must be showing a lot of maturity, I thought... Then, I got to thinking, why in the world would someone go off on a tangent just because someone is a younger marketer, then I realized... My branding wasn't "Unique", there are many "Young marketers" out there... But, there are a bunch of clickbank programs...

That have names like (these are not actual products -- just examplar names)

-- How This 13 Year Old Made 1,000,000

Etc. And people, buy into this "young dream" and then get frigged... Like being bitten by a snake... The truth behind these programs, is some 50 year old whose paying $5 an hour to a girl/guy to be the "brand"... So since a lot of people were bitten by that foul snake, they are now weary of anyone who brands themselves as a young gun.

Its times like these we have to remember, whose bitten those in our niche before, because unfortunately they slapped us with a reputation.

Just some thoughts from me, on this cold Tuesday.

Cheers

Caleb

Mate, I have no idea if you're as young as you make yourself out to be online.

If you are, you are mature beyond your years. Not just in terms of accomplishments, but in terms of *voice*, which is about the biggest compliment an old word jockey like me can pay to a young buck.

For what it's worth, I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 myself, and my assumption is always kind of the other way around. I assume anybody who can make themselves facile with all the ins and outs of this technological mumbo jumbo has GOT to be at least one generation behind me. I still haven't set the clock on my Betamax.

        Hello Caleb
I am 53 years ''old'' and I do wonder how you manage your time to spend off and online ! Wow...I wander if you have time enough to combine all your IM work and presence here on the forum... I have two sons who are more into movie downloads and gaming... sometimes they say: hey dad get off behind that screen... since IM is time consuming (the least we can say ) But I appreciate reading your posts (amongst others) and yes I think your parents are proud of you being a young proffesional ! Take care

I can verify that Caleb is a 16 year old brat, um, marketer.

All kidding aside (love yuh like my own son Caleb) I've seen him on video
chat and he is definitely a kid and has a lot of growing up to do...but...as
a marketer, he's got some REAL smarts. Don't know how he got them or
from where, but he's the real deal.

But the truth is, and I think Caleb will back me up on this, making money
online is NOT hard. I think the biggest problem people have, the ones
struggling, is the 6 inches of real estate between their ears.

When I first started, I was a dumb as a stump. Knew NOTHING about
running a business. But I was determined to succeed and I did.

Anyway, Caleb, you know I'm just funnin with yuh.

Gotta love a kid who thinks your music is cool.

        Sugar in my coffee

It's not as easy as some people make it out to be, you gotta take
action. And that my friends is the hardest thing in Im, to sit down
        and do work.

Thanks Wags for backing me up, I appreciate it . -- The post
this person made resulted in 5-10 replies about how I am really 16.

I'll admit to not being the most mature person, but when it comes to
        business, I'm not stupid

Thanks for all the comments guys...

        I wouldn't have clarified Steven...

Yes, I verify he turned 16 in October 2010... So he is a 16yo something...

16yo what, I am not sure...

While some of his posts indicate wisdom of an advanced age, he does take plenty of liberty to act 16... And that is not always a bad thing really...

As a 40-something, um, marketer, I think it is just as important to let him be 16yo once in a while...

We all grew up too quick, and Caleb has been put on the "growing up too fast" train by other, um, marketers who want to ride on his status as a 16yo-marketer...

Many are happy to hang their placard next to Caleb, to see if Caleb can add vitality to their fading stars...

One of these days, when Caleb is really more mature, he will be able to look back on this time in his life, and hopefully he will be able to identify those folks who took unfair advantage of his youth and lack of life experience...

Many of us hope that when that day finally comes, he will not be a shell of the person he is today...

On a more serious note Caleb... You have your entire life in front of you to be an adult...

Right now, you are 16yo... Take the time now while you have it, to do those things that most 16yo's like to do...

If you fail to do so now, you may end up like Al Bundy, forever reliving what could have been when he was 16...

    Hi Caleb

Age does not a marketer make and personally I'm not bothered how old someone is. Richard Branson started aged 14, I believe, but I see what you mean.
They're trying to promote the fact that if a 13 year old can do it then it must be easy. Of course that makes it harder when a genuine youngster comes along

    Just my thoughts

Caleb, like oxbloom said, older people are somehow just not thought of as bright with regards to technology. DUMB, but true. HECK, wozniak, is older than I am, and I bet that technically he could run circles around anyone on this board! Jobs and Gates are ALSO older than I am, but I have lower opinions of them. STILL, they are FAR from technophobes. HECK, most of this stuff was created by people in my generation. Gates, Jobs, and wozniak are still technically in my generation. I am only about 10 years younger.

BTW there IS a grown man that has created a number of virtual personas to distract people, etc.... So who says a 40 year old pays some kid to say such things?

But HEY, if they accused you of having some advantage, due to your perceived older age, take it as a compliment! You asked questions regarding your age, etc... earlier, so I always figured you were telling the truth. And you seem like a nice guy, so I am fine with that.

I will say openly there have been days where you have posted and the ducks do not seem to line up, it seems / seemed liked some of the comments you were making were not from somebody so young, as some seem to be comments that could only be made by somebody with age and experience and i am more talking general comments not on line comments.

Not here to judge or say / guess your age but just how it reads out in some of your posts at times.

Sure Bill, i have no doubt / was probably just more confirming Caleb's original post and how i can understand how some people would or could see Caleb as being older, it is rare to find a person with a mix maturity and young age such as Caleb has.

    Good grief,
when did being 16 equate to being an idiot?
40 has pretty much faded in my rear view mirror [melancholy backwards glance]
I have known very immature 40 yr olds as well as extremely intelligent teens during my years.
Caleb is one of those, and I am grateful I'm not too stupid to realize it LOL

I've seen Caleb live on TMN..........and I think he's lying, too - I think he's probably very close, if not already, to being 17.

Seriously though - Yeah, Caleb, you've put me on the run a few nights. I never had kids and don't always deal with other people's teenagers when I can just click off, but for the most part.....................

You're an intelligent kid, soon to be adult. There are some things in life that you just can't know until you have experience. When dealing with those things I find you the very average teenager. There are some things that can be taught via academics though and you have been very astute in learning how to apply what you have learned. That ability will take you far and all the other lessons that time smacks you with will be all the easier for you to handle for it.

And for people who think you are older -- If he were, I'd make him use a few of my facials and use it for testimonials for my own products. Somehow I really don't think someone's gonna be impressed with a 16 yr old even if they see on FILM that he has no wrinkles. Let me know if you go through a streak of acne, though. LOL.

    Caleb,

A new HEADSET!?!?!? WOW, you need a new picture!

Seriously though, you can't easily say a person is older just by their writing or even word choice.

    TPW,

Caleb is ALREADY FAR ahead of al Bundy. Al Bundy's biggest problem was a lack of vision. If he had been a pro football player, that became deathly ill in his forties, he would have been ECSTATIC! GEE, did you know Kelly was born rather smart, and could READ at an early age? It's true, in an early show she is reading, in the car, peg stops short, and kelly is left struggling. Nobody cared.

      Steve

Al maybe cared when they were offset... I heard somewhere that those two were an item off stage.

Can you imagine in those intimate moments, the guy that played Al yelling, "Whose your daddy? Whose your daddy?"
