Sometimes you meet someone and within minutes you know they wouldn't make it in IM...ever.

I'm in the grocery today and my 8-10 items are on the moving belt. The cashier is finishing up with the woman in front of me (who is really slow).

The belt is controlled by an electric eye that stops the movement when items reach the "eye". Apparently no one told the cashier that.

She starts moving my items back over and over while the lady in front is writing a check. After a couple minutes I put my hand on the rail to block the "eye" and the belt stops moving.

Still waiting so I move my hand...belt starts moving...cashier starts to rearrange the cans and boxes moving them back over and over. I did it again just for the hell of it - same result.

Amazing - she never realized how it worked. Never figured out why the belt was stopping or going. She works there!

I handed her a $20 and she said "It's 18.67" and just stood there.

Me: I don't have change
Her: I SAID it's $18.67
Me: That should fit into a $20, shouldn't it?

Then she miscounted the change twice.

Some people are destined to say "do you want fries with that".

@ Kay & Sheryl - I have seen people say they were charged $2.00 more than they should have been. It's a show in itself to watch the cashier trying to make change. They cannot figure it out without the use of an electronic device.

Give us a few more years and we will have a society of "robots". People can't think for themselves - and it's getting worse.

Wow... That's all I can say.

There have been a few times I've had to help cashiers with math, and I'm terrible with it myself. I give them the benefit of the doubt though, that they're just having an off day.
