Seems like the internet is running out of addresses soon.

Well, I have been saying this for about 10 or so years, they really already ran out, years ago. Iana started RATIONING!

I LOVE how they say IPv6 is "ready to go". YEP, and wristwatch cellphones with tv are ready to go as well! BOTH statements are just about as true. For IPv6 to REALLY be ready to go, every system needs a new IPv6 IP address, and they may need new routers, etc... That lets the systems I am on on this huge national corporation out! OH WELL!

    Here is what IANA says:

Currently there are two types of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses in active use: IP version 4 (IPv4) and IP version 6 (IPv6). IPv4 was initially deployed on 1 January 1983 and is still the most commonly used version. IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numbers often expressed as 4 octets in "dotted decimal" notation (for example, 192.0.2.53). Deployment of the IPv6 protocol began in 1999. IPv6 addresses are 128-bit numbers and are conventionally expressed using hexadecimal strings (for example, 2001:0db8:582:ae33::29).
So they have been selling them for 12 years, and STILL IPv4 are far more popular. They have probably been realistically usable by homes for less than 10 years. Of course, that is assuming the connect to, through, systems that use IPv6.

IPv6 is already out and the major service providers will begin testing on June 8. It will be transparent to almost all users except for maybe dial up modems and older routers will need to be upgraded.

It has been "out" a LONG time. Like I said, they started official allocations almost 12 years ago. Some older computers, maybe some O/S, and maybe even some PHONES(cell and TCP/IP), and UMPCs, won't work on it. And many websites, and the smaller networks. Still, as you said, TESTing on JUNE 8! Even THAT is a long way out. Close to 12 years, and over 5 years after they said SOON!

BTW what do dialup modems have to do with anything? You DO know that they do NOT do networking, right!?!? AND, if you use them in a network, you use things like ppp! Point-to-Point Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia BTW PPP may be used ELSEWHERE also, so not upgrading IT may cause some problems.
