It's only the 13th over here. I'm wondering though - if there are all sorts of romantic things going on at home...........

What is your idea of romance if you are here posting in the forum?

I just hung out with 2 of my best friends, both guys, and we all laughed at how we're all single on Valentine's day.

No romance for me this Valentine's Day However, my son presented me with a dozen beautiful pink roses this morning.

    He's a sweetheart!

There is only one thing in my house that relates to Valentines Day - this thread is open.

      Apart from that, nope.

Come on, surely men and women can show affection every day of the year, why Valentines Day, its almost like saying you shouldn't be romantic any other day except this, so I am wary of it, especially since it is such a recent invention and probably dreamed up by Hallmark.

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day in our house. We don't celebrate our wedding anniversary either. Or even remember it for that matter. My mother-in-law gave us a card the first year after we married and we both plastered on 'Oh, thank you - you remembered!' expressions but she must have clocked the baffled look that fleetingly passed between us first because she hasn't bothered since and neither has anyone else, us included.

My husband did give me a beer mug once stamped on the front in big letters with 'Property Of Dartmoor Prison'. I have no idea why. He wouldn't know romance if it walked up to him and bit him

This morning, I looked deeply into my love's eyes, mesmerised by the indescribable, breathtaking beauty shimmering back at me ... in the bathroom mirror.

Since it's such a special day, I pulled out all the stops and enjoyed the delicacy of a slap-up ("slap it in microwave"), candlelit dinner of succulent goodness ... chicken curry and chips.

Subsequent to that, I took a long, "romantic" countryside walk with ... my pet dog.

When I arrived home, I was feeling frisky, but instead of "rollin' in the hay", I opted for the next best thing: rolled some grass and lit up a smoke to relax.

Then I laid down (alone) on my cold, single bed and cried a thousand tears.

    Happy Valentine's Day. *sniff*. :p

(In all seriousness, I feel perfectly good about Valentine's Day this year ... last year was a bit of a different story, having split up with my girlfriend not too long before). S'all good now though.

Hope all you love-birds had a good day.

I'm alone this year, too - and that is all good with me. I have never been a VD fan and never will be. I like emotions turned on by the little things in life - not the holiday industry. I always saved a little valentine's like celebration for some time when I actually felt valentine's like affection.
