DomainsbyProxy - Where Do These Jokers Get Off???

So, I have upwards of 400 domains with privacy protection on them (that will be changing soon).

Appears that the domainsbyproxy guys now realize that they have a captive audience of internet marketers and have started promoting Clickbank offers (willy nilly) to EVERY SINGLE domain registration email.

That means, they're sending me an email for EVERY domain - not filtering so I just get 1 for each email address. I can't see any of my regular 500+ email message a day because of this BS.

I can't imagine that, in my GoDaddy checkout process, I somehow agreed to this.

Yes, I just sent them a VERY "not nice" email. You guys getting this stuff?

Glad now that I don't use privacy on my sites.

yeah, I dropped them like a hot potato! You may have clicked something in the sign up process like agreeing to receive promotions from their partners or something? I'm not surprised anyway, as the signup process for both GoDaddy and DomainsbyProxy is so filled with "options", it is very easy to tick off something by accident.

I have privacy on my sites, but not via GoDaddy / domainsbyproxy, so no, not getting inundated with spam. Do you have the option of using a different privacy provider?

I don't know if I didn't tick the option (I just ignore everything that isn't mandatory to get the domain registered and get me off GoDaddy's bloated website ), or what because I'm not getting anything from domainsbyproxy. I only have a couple dozen domains protected from them, but I still haven't seen anything - I hope I'm not about to get flooded with junk.

Interesting. It's a new development because I started buying domains w/ privacy close to a year ago and this spammy crap just started.

After I started this thread I remembered that I'm now a VIP at GD and have an account manager. Have never spoken w/ the guy but now figure I'm going to ask him to handle this on my behalf. I'm sure they'd rather hear from him than get another profanity laced email from me.

I had a similar problem with them a few years ago and finally set up one email address for just GoDaddy registrations, whether they are with the privacy or not. That cut down on the spam from them by about 99%.

Just another reason not to use GoDuddy as far as I'm concerned.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Godaddy plays EVERY trick in the book. Some are just BARELY legal, etc... I wonder how many newbies go in for a $5/y domain and end up getting a $30+/month bill JUST because they hit one of the stupid buttons to easily go ahead, or didn't uncheck a box.

HECK, my CREDIT CARD REPORTING AGENCY now BLOCKS access to their site until you click a link that they PURPOSELY make harder to spot AND they rotate things, etc... so you may go to one of their "partners"! OH, did I mention I PAY them every month for the privilege?

BTW for quite a while, the major secondary registrars, such as godaddy, are in charge of storing the names/contact info, etc... They have like 3 names on each domain(owner, admin, and tech, as I recall)! TECHNICALLY, by registering for DBP, you are SAVING them money! Granted it might not be much, but they save money by using perhaps several KB LESS for each DBP user. And YEAH they may end up in court, and have to handle complaints, but they STILL charge an AWFUL lot.
