She was originally famous for being the daughter of the guy that defended OJ Simpson. Then her mom married Bruce Jenner, so her step-brother is Brody Jenner (from "The Hills").

Other than that, she is mostly famous for her reality show. Not sure how she landed it in the first place.

But she is quite the business-woman. Her sponsored tweets go for $25K, tons of endorsements, retail shops, and she has a popular website.

I remember seeing a promo or something stating that the youngest sisters who are mid-teens will also have a reality-based show soon, incredible...

I guess perceived status is in the eye of the beholder since one guy was a olympic champion the other a Heisman trophy winner, the other a well known pro basketball player and the guy in the sex tape had/has a decent hip-hop music/TV career and is also the brother of a one time hot R&B singer Brandy - who also had her own TV show.

I don't know if the sex tape was leaked by her or the guy involved or not.

To be fair that sex tape helped RJ's career also.

The K. family has parlayed that sex tape, good looks and the current pop culture situation into an empire.

I never said any of the Kadashians had one iota of talent as far as singing, acting etc.

She and the family are now in fact big time reality TV stars and have a huge following.

I have absolutely nothing against any of them.

BTW, IMHO Kim is a good looking woman.

Yeah, I have often wondered about the people who are famous for being famous.

It's probably nothing new, but time may color our perceptions.

Anyway, vapidity has never been in short supply among a percentage of celebrities and pseudocelebrities.

You really didn't answer anything. But yeah, WHY is she famous, etc... Who knows? SOME, like the olsen twins, are almost like one trick ponies that would disappear into the ether if not for MILKING it and appealing to some group. SOME are so EMBARASSINGLY bad that they can milk it, like hung. Some have some tie to another. Some insinuate themselves into the situation. Some BUY it. Some are “celebrities”, and some actually are successes!
