Amsterdam unveiled plans Saturday to close brothels, sex shops and marijuana cafes in its ancient city center as part of a major effort to drive organized crime out of the tourist haven.

Well I guess they feel they have spread it to the rest of the civilized world so their job is done.

Why would they do that isn't that like one of the main tourist attractions that brings them a lot of revenue? Isn't prostitution legal there anyway?

Amsterdam isn't shutting down all brothels and hash cafes. It's just limiting them to certain areas of the city.

Why would organized crime be there when everything's legal and nobody needs organized crime to get prostitutes and dope? That doesn't make sense. When I was there no one seemed to be having any problems with it. The people getting high weren't out causing problems for everyone else either. I can see them limiting it to certain areas of the city though.

If they do it must be for a good reason. Organized crime is all over Europe, not only in Amsterdam or Sicily. There is nothing wrong wanting to fight it. I am sure if you go to Bucarest or Kiev you can find all the same stuff for a lot cheaper including the dope.

    Nooooo...

What am I gonna do ALL summer now?...lol..

But seriously.. the organised Crime is RIFE in that city, the cocaine effect has been hitting those streets hard, and suddenly the hash cafe's aren't enough. Tourists want to be able to be in and out of Brothels like a track rabbit so they need a l'il sumin, sumin to keep them going.. (enter stage left) Coke dealers galore..

    Peace
