Worst Internet Marketer Of All Time

After years of reading, learning, spending thousands of dollars, I have managed to build an empire of 35 websites that produce no income.

I have bum marketed, bum blogged, auto blogged, built affiliate sites, built adsense sites, built NO list, I am in markets I dont care about, switched blog templates, researched plug ins, google sniped, on page seo'd, article marketed, spun articles, tried se nuke, blog blueprint, blog commenting, profile blasted, bought tons of wso's, bought clickbank products, cant keep up with my sites, get google danced from page 1 to page who cares, backlinked, wp syndicated, backlink boosted, signed up on tons of internet marketing lists, then unsubcribed from, chased every shiny new ball - I am sure i forgot a hundred other things...

I make no money and now officially hate everything i do - I feel totally and 100% rejected and feel sick about the lost time and lost money!

So I officially vote myself WORST INTERNET MARKETER OF ALL TIME!!

I dreamed of this amazing, fun internet business - financial freedom and free to do what I want, when I want and where I want.

I am not having fun. my business sucks and I think I made $3.76 today in adsense revenue and $0 in affiliate income..lol..another stellar day.

Cant ever seem to discover my true passion - my background is a CPA and Real Estate / Home Builder. You figure somewhere in these fields I would have discovered a true passion??????

So, where do I go. Knowing myself, I am always at my best when I have true focus on one project. It seems like the best business model for me is to build an authority site in a market I am passionate about - become known as someone who helps people - build a list - get involved and network in my market. Somehow I need to find my passion. I just cant keep doing what I have been doing. Maybe I let my existing sites sit for the rest of 2011 and refocus. Occassionally pay to have some backlinks tossed their way.

I need a NEW START!!!

I will probably be the only reader in this thread, but I have now documented my thoughts!!

lol, thanks for the post. Made me feel better about my frustration over "not making enough". The simple answer is you have to chose the right market (in demand) and domain to stand a chance. And even then it'll be tough.

Could be worse, you could be in the tax relief niche.. ahem. It's a tough niche! But the leads I need to get are desperate for help, so.. Anyway, good luck in your endeavors. Oh and on the passion thing, perhaps your passion is porn so maybe you should adult aff marketing. Just kidding.

You're not new here, are you? I think you got a new Warrior forum ID so we don't actually know who you are or what you've shared before. No problem. I don't have a problem with that myself. But it does tie in with the 'new start' you want. Good for you.

I was disturbed at how much it sounded like you might have been reading from my personal journals at first, ... but I think you're at the cusp. This is it.

You've proven 5000 ways NOT to invent the lightbulb ... NOW you're going to invent the (proverbial) lightbulb. You've laid the groundwork and just described at the end of your post exactly what IS your passion and what you (already) sound successful at (if you ask me). Go for it.

I think in a year or so, when you have your fun, freedom and fortune, you just might be very proud of your 'Worst Internet Marketer of all time' award. Without it you wouldn't have arrived.

And THIS right here is your problem. I don't want to come off like an asshole but some brutal honesty follows here:

    YOU NEED TO FOCUS!

I don't care how many new shiny balls come your way, stick to one thing and FOCUS. Learn to do proper market analysis.

The easiest way to do that is to find a market with a problem and offer a solution. Doesn't even need to be your OWN solution. Find an appropriate affiliate solution and go from there.

Why are your adsense sites not flourishing? Poor search engine placement? Poor keyword selection? Don't trash your sites. Identify their problems and learn how to solve them (ideally without spending anymore money).

From your post it seems you believed the "Just Take Action" hype more than learning how to properly market a product or service.

Again do NOT trash anything you currently have. Step back and focus on one site at a time and don't move on to the next site until you have found the problem and worked on a solution.

its google game , if you know how to play this game then you are winner otherwise you will loose everything.

      thanks for sharing your views.

mate, you have all the ingredients to succeed, you sound like a hard worker who takes action, you may need to change your tactics and strategies, and be totally honest with yourself and give a brutal self assessment and then go from there

    • What worked for me was to focus on one and only one method until I was able to make it work.

Spreading oneself across multiple different strategies without mastery of any of them is not going to generate income unless one is very lucky.

I something feel the same way. I've been doing this for about 2 years now and have really only made money here and there.

To be honest though, I like the "thrill of the hunt" so to speak. Even if I never make a lot of money, I enjoy doing it and that has to count for something.

Is that your true passion? I asked myself often if I have $200 million in my bank, will I still be doing what I'm doing now?

I know how it feels bro. I've experience a lot of the same pains as you. I am having good success with the offline market though.

Since you have a real estate background why don't you try to think of offline/online service you can present to these guys. I know realtors are always hungry for new buyers and sellers.

Hit me on my skype maybe we can brainstorm together to come up with a solid action plan for offline.

Also if you are making $3.76 per day with adsense you could potential flip that site for $1500 dollars. I had some sites that where making me around $300 bucks per month with adsense and sold them on flippa for over $6000....

Just need to focus in on one method with a PROVEN action plan and take ACTION....

I'll share a 'formula' that might work for you.

    1. Pick a model (blogging for Adsense, or affiliate selling,
or freelance writing, or providing online services, anything else)

    2. Study about it for a week, ask people who are doing it for
advise/feedback, try and soak in as much knowledge about it as
    you can.

    3. Start working on the model. Follow ONE system from your
research. Go through ALL the steps in sequence. Stick with
    it till they are done.

    4. Set your deadline in advance. It may be 1 month, or three.
No longer, to start with. At the end of that period, review
    progress.

    Questions to ask:

    * Do you like what you're doing enough to keep going?
    * Is it working? Are you getting at least some of the results
    you expected?
    * Are you getting better at what you do?

Chances are that if you selected the right kind of model for
your skills, interest and knowledge, ANY of the many models
around will work by this time.

That's if you stuck with the process - and learned the right
way to do it in the first place.

Oh, and also remember to set REALISTIC goals and targets. Too
often, 'failure' is simply another name for 'failing to reach
over-ambitious goals'... and someone else who follows a step
by step plan may consider the SAME results as being a 'success'!

    All success

Thanks - I agree, I need to really think thru which model I am most comfortable with, which niche I most believe I can provide value as well as enjoy the process and then stay focused! I ran a very successful custom home building company (right up until the world collapesed ) but we were successful because we stayed focused on what we did best! I have just been a little "off" these last two years so I am just struggling probably more mentally. I really believe I have learned enough internet marketing to at a minimum be medium successful, if I focused on ONE project.

Thanks to everybody for their comments, I guess I cant thank anybody becuase the Thanks button is nowhere to be found??

Hello New Start. I like what Dr. Mani told you. Give that a shot.

I'd also like to point out one thing you seem to be overlooking. You have shown great determination. Once you follow Dr. Mani's advice and find the one model you don't hate, then focus all that determination in that direction until you succeed. Stop chasing those shiny balls.

By the way, the time and money you've spent so far need not be lost if you learn from them. You're probably too close to it all right now to gain the insight from hindsight that you will discover in the fullness of time. Your self-appointed application for Worst Marketer of All Time is hereby rejected. You are not finished yet.

Now follow your own advice. I don't think real estate is your passion, by the way. If it was, you would already have had an authority site built and making some income. If you haven't done that in the two years you have been at IM, my guess is that you have been avoiding it because you are afraid to face the news that what you thought was your passion is actually not.

Some say building an authority site about something you are passionate about is a sure fire way to kill that passion. Others say the passion is what you need to survive the drudgery of this work.

So ask yourself - what is your true passion?

Mine is teaching. It has been that for my whole life and I don't see it changing. So creating my own information products is what gives me the most joy. The marketing of them is not my passion - it is the bane of my existence. LOL!

I happened to have chosen the make money online niche for my first couple of digital books. And I think that is enough for this niche. I am brainstorming in my free time what niche to enter next, one in which I have enough interest to write about and that would also be profitable.

Welcome to your fresh start. Keep your credit card in your wallet, hunker down and grab that project and don't let go until you master it.

Dear Mr. Worst Internet Marketer in the World,

I just wanted to write to you to let you know that there are a lot of people out there who are far more deserving of that title than you. Today's Adsense revenue of $3.76 puts you $3.76 in front of about 90% of the people who decide to give IM a try and probably about $503.76 in front of 80% of them. It's not uncommon for many to never take the initiative to develop, create, or research anything as you have. Their entire "business model" involves spending $100 to $500 on 2, 3, or 4 IM courses and never doing anything with them at all.

Consider yourself several steps ahead of them, and don't give up!

$3.76 does seem kind of low for so many sites. That's like what I get for one of my sites (with hundreds of sites, it adds up). Maybe you're making your sites too nice? Try using Google link units instead of txt/image ads.

So, I'm really new to IM and I'm probably one of the biggest lurkers on this forum After reading your post, I just really think you've tried wayyy too many things. I read over and over again that you need to try one thing, master it, then move on. -OR- buy one reputable training program... do exactly what it says and replicate it. That's what I'm doing.

I had a goal of starting a new physical product affiliate site every weekend for the next 3 months. To be honest, I'm only at 2 sites because I realized that I'm learning incredibly fast and I have constant light bulbs going off in my head.

Now, I've only made a few dollars in the past 2 months since I've started this thing. But I am seeing results in the SERPs and in my SEO efforts... and that's promising.

I don’t know what your complaining about, as far as I see you are already successful at "Sucking at IM", you have hit rock bottom the only way from here is up!, lots of successful people were at your level at on time or another, your just learning this earlier than most, you just got to change your mindset in the matrix you can be anyone you want to be, there are no limits, you are already good at one thing build from there

I don't see in there that you have created your own products.

It is way easier to make money that way. In fact I don't promote anything besides my own products. I have been very successful with that right from month one.

So give that a whirl rather than trying to promote other stuff.

Make sure you have a poper sales funnel and you will make a lot more money.

    Just my 2 cents.
