After a long deliberation, I've decided to post

I should have waited until Wednesday to do this since that is the REAL 1 year anniversary of my registration, however today is the day.

My name is Cheryl and I'm a newbie. (wow! I feel so much better admitting it.) You'd think that having been here for a year I wouldn't claim that label but as it's taken me this long just to introduce myself I obviously have some hang-ups. I could spend hours a day just reading posts, but I always feel that there's 10,000 people on here that are so much more knowledgeable, what value could I ever add?

I'm also a War Room member and vow that one day I'm going to understand and implement half of the gems available there. One glorious day...

And, now, having read Mike McMillan's just released Guide, I want to say that I need to make $43,729.03 in the next 3 years and 5 months. How do I do it?

Ya'll have a fabulous day!

Cheryl

Why have you been reading for a year?

You should have read and then done something!

You can always keep up with reading in here but the best way to learn is through experience whether you believe it or not...

I joined about the same time as you. But I have to agree that you should have been taking action if you're serious about this.

I'm glad I started doing things when I did.

@masterofinternate - Thank you for the welcome and advice! I wish I had something that I loved doing more than anything else in the world. Then niche picking would be easier!

@mike - reading for a year is easier than actually DOING something! I try not to think of what I could have accomplished if I'd have just closed my eyes, held my nose and jumped in rather than consider the water temp, the wind direction, if I had enough sunscreen, whether there were sharks etc.

@ex rat - Yes! I can claim another label...ExLurker. Of course the coward in me would be perfectly content to go right back into hiding!

@dudleydog - You're absolutely right. It's sobering to have to consider if I'm really serious or if this has just been a way to pass time for the past year. Tonight I'm writing down 5 things that I WILL do tomorrow. They may not be the right things but it's better to make mistakes and fix them then to continue doing nothing.

          Thanks for the support!

    No time like the present!

Hi Cheryl, welcome (officially) to the Forum! You are already offering value!

    How so?

By admitting what you have, by making the first post, by inspiring other "lurkers" to perhaps do the same thing.

I'm also a War Room member and vow that one day I'm going to understand and implement half of the gems available there. One glorious day...
STOP! If you even try to "understand and implement" one-quarter of what's in the War Room, you will never get anywhere. Instead, choose ONE METHOD and work toward mastering it. Then you may want to branch out from there.

And, now, having read Mike McMillan's just released Guide, I want to say that I need to make $43,729.03 in the next 3 years and 5 months. How do I do it?

      Cheryl,

The cold unvarnished truth is that one year from now you will be exactly where you are today - reading posts about how other people earn a living - or you will have joined them.

What's the difference between where you sit today and where others find themselves perched with viable on-line businesses? Simple. It's action.

You can read all you want, believe in the "power of attraction" and think all day long about making money. It won't happen until something sets the ball into motion. You must take action if you want to see results.

Excuses do not count as action. Reading about the success and ideas of others does not count as action. Surfing the Internet, reading forum posts, buying e-books, writing in journals, etc., etc., etc. All of those...not action. Posting this post? Nope. Not action. I'm not saying don't do them, but I am saying that those things on their own will produce exactly zero results for you. It's important to learn - to "sharpen the saw" if you will. But having a sharp saw does you no good unless you put yourself to work with it.

You will never be prepared. You will never be ready. The stars will not align. Today is the day. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Today. Start today. Before your head hits the pillow tonight - do something. Take action.

Will you have made money before the day is out? Probably not. Maybe. But, probably not. That is okay because tomorrow you will wake up and take more action. The same for the next day, and then the next. You just need to "pull the trigger" and get yourself moving toward the goal and then...never quit. Well, at least not until you're filthy rich!

When you hear someone telling you what YOU can't do, they are usually talking about what THEY can't do.

Cheryl, thankyou for being so upfront. its really refreshing to hear about the journey you were on - feeling you shouldn't or couldn't add to the discussion and even better to hear you talk about taking action with your list of 5 things to do. Keep it up, feel the fear and go for it! Your contribution is as valuable as all the other posts. Good Luck with all you do!

You won't need anything like as many as half of them.

Always good, for most people, to have a highly specific and attainable target (and to read whatever Mike has to say, too, I've noticed).

Well, this would be a perfectly good and reasonable target, even if you didn't mean it too literally!

41 months to $44,000-ish. I like it. It allows for 3 months of earning nothing at all (which I managed with no problem) followed by a gradual, steady, linear increase from there to $2,316 per month (obviously achievable) by month 41. I'm not suggesting it'll be as smooth as that, of course, in the real world, but there are enough people here who've done that, and more, for you to break it down that way, look at it and see that it's obviously achievable.

Good luck, Cheryl - looking forward to reading updates.

Have you read about any "business models" of IM here that instinctively appeal to you more than others?

Hi Cheryl! I think that despite the fact that there are many members who are "veteran" or "expert" warriors, there is still plenty of room for newbies as well

Even if you haven't got expert advice to give yet, it doesn't mean that you can't add value. Just participating, voicing your opinion, sharing things you've learned from your own experiences, and asking good questions is all a part of adding value here, so don't doubt yourself!

    Hi Cheryl,
I'm not new to Internet Marketing but I fairly consider myself a newbie since I haven't applied most of what I've learned. Don't make this mistake of learning as much as you can but not putting it to use.

The best teacher in any skill is still experience and you gain that by learning about it, taking action, making and learning from mistakes (this means losing time and money), learn more things, rinse, repeat.

    Cheers!

Don't feel bad Cheryl, I "lurked" around for several years before I started posting. The forum is amazing....
