Gmail Users .... Are you guilty of this? (or something similar)?

Hey guys,

First up, I love gmail... I think it's awesome, been using it since it first came out.
And the gmail notifier is awesome too ... 'cant live without it' (sorta thing).

But I have this 'Obsessiveness' in marking emails as 'Read'
and cant stand my inbox with any 'unread' emails ... or my gmail notifier 'blue' ('unread emails').

This doesn't mean I read every email ... if it's not interesting, I'll 'mark as
read' and if it's spammy garbage, I'll hit the 'report spam' button or set up a filter.

My question is,

Is there anyone else out there who does this? or something similar?
(obsessive compulsive disorder)??

Wanna go to 'gmail anonymous' with me??
We can hang out in the corner and rock backwards and forwards together.

Interesting to know how you use gmail ... and if you have
the same (or similar) 'issues' with gmail.

Feel free to fire away,

- aj

hahaha - i am in rehab.

    My thing is labels.

I drive myself nuts - i have over 35 labels ok. oh and they are color-coded.

Then everything that comes in or goes out gets the label.

As I said I am in rehab - I have realized that if I search with the email address that it will come up in search results so there is no reason to label most things.

I mean some things yes - like new orders - problem orders and pending - this one is priceless really.

One thing I have noticed that I hate - when it threads conversations together - this is ok coming in but even when I reply directly 'reply' it will not thread that together in every case anymore - more label stress.

Just something else to worry about LOL.

What you said though reminds me of a cute commercial for something or other. Swiffer duster I think where this little dust guy is in this giant keyboard and he says he is hanging out between the G and H keys and spending too much time at the Space Bar.

Not quite the same but once I read an e-mail I delete it and then delete it from the delete box.

I do that if I send something too. Delete everything.

      Same with text messages.

        Interesting!

Even though 'you'll never have to delete an email' - in gmail?

Breakfast? Hey! It's time for Google Breakfast Cereal!

I have been saying for years that cereal is the only product they don't have -
Google Frosted Flakes Goo Goo Good!

          Label: Flakes
          Color Code Purple
          Mark as Read
          Never Delete

I totally understand how you feel, I can't stand it either, if I see any unread e-mails.

But since I can get a lot more work done, I just force myself to close the browser tab with gmail.

And I don't just mark things read, things that I don't need anymore go to trash.

I did what you did. But occasionally I will read some of it and do a little house keeping by deleting those uninteresting mails, even from friends and trusted sources. I'll hit the spam button only when I didn't think I've solicited for it.

My problem is I want to save emails for later b/e I think I can use something in them. So I have a bunch of Labels set up with emails in them that I forgot why I put them in there for to start with.
