Ebook for opt-in on Aweber instructions

I want to offer an ebook as an optin incentive on my WP blog using Aweber. I don't know where or how to load the ebook on my site or how to direct the subscriber back to the download page in Aweber after opting in. Can't seem to find any instructions on Aweber. Can anyone provide some step by step instrutions to a senior citizen newbie on how to do this? Or direct me to a tutorial? Perhaps send a PM to me. It will be much appreciated.
  • 1.) Sign up for an autoresponder service like Aweber
2.) Create an account at Amazon s3 (optional, in case you don't want to host the ebook yourself)
3.) Upload your product(s) there. (if you skipped step 2, you can also upload it to your own site into a subfolder via ftp software)
4.) Create a thank you page where people will be redirected to after they opted in; include the link to your ebook on that thank you page (use this code and replace the URL with your link):
    Code:
    <a href="http://mythankyoupage.com/ebook.pdf">Download Now</a>
5.) In aweber, configure the thank you page URL to redirect to the page you set up in step 4
    (from their knowledge base: http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/...nk+You+Page%3F)
    6.) ???
    7.) Profit!

Backlink Excellence I really appreciate your reply unfortunately, your answer is a little over my head as I'm a senior citizen newbie. "You can also upload it to your own site into a subfolder via ftp software" probably makes a lot of sense to you but to me, I have to think what is a subfolder, where do I get one or how do I create it,
I know what ftp is but where in the site do I upload it once I figure out what it is? Sorry, i don't understand all this stuff, I have a very large learning curve here. But I will get there eventually. Thanks.

No problem, we all had to start somewhere, me too of course!

If you have a site like this:

        Code:
        http://mygreatwebsite.com
then a "subfolder" would be this:
        Code:
        http://mygreatwebsite.com/ebook
It's really just like on your computer, where you create a new folder and name it "ebook", it works the same on the server. Into that folder, you upload your ebook via ftp (you can use free software for this like filezilla or your hosting panel). You can create a subfolder with your ftp program as well.

ok, I will do some experimenting. I am living in the Philippines right now and i don't know any computer people here, but I may have to start advertising on Craig's list to find someone to help me out for a while on these "sticky" questions. It's really frustrating when you don't know what you're doing or how to do it --

The best advice I can give you is to just experiment yourself and google for an answer if you get stuck. Yes, you can outsource later but then you'll have an understand of how much a task is worth, in what timeframe you can expect it to be done, if the work was done as you wanted it to be etc.

So really, the fastest way to learn it and understand what people are talking about on this forum is to just get down to it and do it yourself in the beginning. I know it can be annoying and sometimes painful but you'll be glad you did later.

There are several ways to deal with the ebook,,but for super simple do this.

Assume that your website is called YOURWEBSITE.com. You will first need to create 2 new directory's within that domain, one that will be a THANK YOU page, i.e. YOURWEBSITE.COM/THANKSFOROPTINGIN and another to store the ebook itself, lets just use XYZ123, so that would be YOURWEBSITE.COM/XYZ123.

Put something on the THANK YOU PAGE like "Thanks For Opting In, Click the Link Below For Your Free Ebook.

    Create a link on that page i.e. <a href="/XYZ123/NAME OF EBOOK FILE">DOWNLOAD HERE</a>

Upload the Ebook file to the XYZ123 directory and your THANK YOU page to the THANKSFOROPTINGIN

In Aweber you will need to create a new list, it will guide you along, then you will create the form, if you have not already.

In Step 2 of the Form process is a Option for Thank You page, enter in there YOURWEBSITE.COM/THANKSFOROPTINGIN with the http:// in front of it of course.

Let me know if you need further info.

    Good Luck

No offense but it sounds like you are trying to run before learning to walk.
Find someone locally if possible to help you get some more of the basics down.
Just my own two cents worth.
    Good Luck.
