What Happened to Wooden Blocks and Rattles?

We just wanted to get a simple set of wooden blocks and a basic rattle for the baby. All we could find was weirdly-shaped plastic toys. Nothing basic.

Plastic toys concern me. Canada recently passed a law that baby toys made with plastic must be free of certain toxic compounds. There is usually a reason for laws like that being passed.

Seems like I see the 'oldie' toys at the local Walgreens (pharmacy/store) or the Dollar stores around here.

Plastic is toxic at its best. You are right to be concerned. I would gladly live without the crap.

Got a saw, sandpaper, a few gougers and some wood? Make the darned things if you can't find em. That's what we did when we were kids. Every kid knew how to whittle before Big Bro decided that kids were terrorists if they had knives.

We might have to do that. I used to use chisels and other sharp tools at a very young age, around 4. I think we'd be breaking the law if we let our child do the same, lol.

I think it was closer to 6 for us, but back when I was growing up every boy owned a pocket knife.

Now if you pull one out your a whack-job.
