How long for the contest results now? I'm getting way curious.

    What contest?

Update: I figured out what you were referring to.

I thought you meant "wags" as in jokers. Whoops.

LOL - Steve knows he's Wags. He'll be along some time to answer this if it's not gone before he gets here.

      Hi Sal.

According to the email I got a while ago, the contest will be judged either
on the 30th or 31st of this month. I don't remember exactly.

As to how long it will be until I get my package in the mail, who knows?
Probably sometime around the middle of April.

What they do is they send the lyrics back along with a contest judging
sheet listing all the categories and a score for each one.

I can't seem to find last year's results (of course) but I do remember that
each judge (there are many) also writes some comments about your song.

Most of my comments from last year were criticisms of the lyrics. So I'm
hoping the gem that you wrote for me will change all that.

Should be an interesting package when it comes.

I'll reveal the results, one song at a time, one day at a time, from worst
      to best.

How's that for keeping a forum coming back to a thread?

That's what they call marketing. :p

Well it will sure keep ME coming back. Hopefully I'll have to come back for the whole damned series to get my answer if you're going from worst to best.

This is very suspenseful for me having never thought of ever writing lyrics. How bad do I suck or did I excel? I do know I gave you a hard way to go with them, LMAO. Merry Christmas, Pal. Hahahahahahahaha.

Gee - as long as they don't say "you should have called the song The Worst Nightmare Ever To Be Put To Music" I'll be just fine with whatever - I just am finding it becoming intense having to wait to find out.

Sal, the day I can be assured I can be right more than 40% of the time is the day I buy Champagne for everyone...:p

Why don't we get Wags to post that tune so we can all listen to it again.

As I recall, the general concensus was we liked it.

Bill - That was all the coercion I needed to refuse to ever tell you that you're wrong about ANYTHING.

John, if you're serious about that and are especially good at lyrics (my
weakness) contact me. I'm dead serious.

We'll work on something together. I'll record a rough demo of it (as you
can tell my recording chops and equipment are only so-so) and then, if
you have the resources, get it recorded more professionally. I'll then go
and submit it to the proper publishers.

I have about 200 songs.... this weekend I will try to dig out a batch of lyrics to send you... just let me know what style you are wanting to go after.

    Here's a country rock one:

One day I was under pressure to write and had NOTHING!!!! So I went to blockbuster and my wife rented this movie about the life of the great bullrider Lane "Frost"... and immediately after ward, I took parts and peices of the movie that inspired lines... and write this song...

    Its called "Cowboy Up"

    Verse 1:

He was born and bred, n
    Raised on a farm.
    Under the lonestar banner
You could tell by his manner
    and his country boy charm.

His Daddy showed him the ropes
When he was just a little kid
Yeah he's tough n he knows it
and if he aint rode it
    then it aint been rid.

He's got a dangerous dream, out on the rodeo scene
He cant help it cause it's in his blood.

    Well he works real
    and he plays real rough
We're talkin kicked in the head
    n stomped about dead
    man he loves that stuff.

He could break a few bones
but you cant break his pride
he knows he might get hurt
or hafta eat a little dirt
but its all in the ride.

Some people say he's nuts, but the boy's shore got guts
    a living 8 seconds at a time.

    (Chorus)

    Go bullrider, fly
got a date with a twister tonight
yeah you'll be layin it all on the line for that buckle again
    Never mind the fear inside
son this ones gonna be rough
Cuz ole thunders bustin out at the gate
    Good lord he cant wait
    YOU BETTER COWBOY UP
    COWBOY UP

    V2:
    Gettin stuck in the reigns
    Sleepin out ion the cold
He's got bulls fer a life
and a truck for his wife
and his home is the road

Naw ya cant tie him down
and you cant make him feel
He likes his love on the side
    but that 8 second ride
    is the only thang real.

    Out there makin a name
    way too wild to tame
He's just lookin for that fortune an fame.

    (Repeat cho)

    Bridge:

An tonight he'll ride his last ride
Tonight the crowds will all be gone
and the last thing he'll see
is the glare in that bulls eyes...
before the riders in the sky come to take him home...

    "Repeat CHORUS"
    Tag: "You better cowboy up".

Anyway, I dont know how to record online... and have no recording of this one... but, once I get a chance I will email you a batch of lyrics you can feel free to mess with or publish....

Ps. These days you have as good a chance giving your material to an online marketer as you do a Nashville publishing company.
