My favorite mild chili recipe that serves 4.

      Ingredients:
      1 cup raw black beans
      1 lb. stew beef, cubed
      2 Tbsp. bacon grease
      1/4 cup chopped onion
      1/4 cup chopped green peppers
1/2 cup diced green chile peppers
      4 tbsp. tomato paste
      4 beef bouillon cubes
      1/4 tsp. ground cumin
      1 tsp. minced garlic
      1/2 tsp. salt
      1/2 tsp. pepper
      1/4 cup water

      Cooking instructions:
Brown the beef in the bacon drippings or vegetable oil.
      Drain beef.
Add all ingredients to crock pot and cook on low for about 7 hours.
This will make a pretty thick chili, and many people want it thinner, so to thin it out, don't drain the grease from the beef, and add 1/4 cup water. This thins it and softens the flavors a bit.

This is the chili I make for normal people. For myself I swap out the green chili peppers for habanero peppers and throw in a couple of drops of Sudden Death hot sauce. That makes for a solid 4 or 5 alarm chili in most cases.
