      I agree with you KimW,

      one scene from Psycho is the only one that has ever made me jump, that's the bathroom shot where the camera just shows the room and the doorway, all of a sudden Norman appears dressed as his mum with that knife, wow Alfred Hitchcock sure new how to make a film.


      BTW, I'm not sure I would class it as a horror film but the exploding head in the Ken Russel film Scanners was a masterclass in cinematography, you just cannot see the join in that editing even in slo mo. brilliant

        The scene that made me jump was the one from Wait Until Dark, when Alan Arkin jumps out of the dark to get Audrey Hepburn....I watched it again a couple of years ago and still startled me, and I knew it was coming.
